So, apparently YouTube has released some new policies that are going to be very harmful to firearm enthusiast channels, and this has made some of them consider alternative platforms. So, in a somewhat hilarious move, one of the channels I watch, C&Rsenal, and another channel called InRange TV that's associated with another channel I watch called Forgotten Weapons, have started channels on PornHub. This is both sad and hilarious, as it shows the sorry state of things, but when you think about it, PornHub has been pushing an anti-censorship stance very hard recently, so it kind of makes sense to move there. Hopefully you don't mind seeing porn ads while you watch your gun videos. Some of those tags, though.

It's fascinating what's going on with PornHub right now. They are collecting lots of non-porn content from all kinds of sources and have started to produce original content as well. I love that they feel no need to shed their original handle or deny their past. With the size of their network and capital, they could actually become one of the main studios in the next generation of post-TV productions.

The more they tighten their grip, the more systems will slip thru their fingers.

It's no secret that the porn industry has driven some fairly impressive technical innovations - home video, for example - so good on PornHub for this. I despise the very idea of censorship, so if Youtube wants to stupid itself out of business, fine.

While I agree on moral grounds, I have no illusions that this will noticeably hurt Youtube. Economically, they are doing the right thing, damn them.

They will eventually shed the name PornHub. If you really want to go mainstream they are going to have too.

    It will eventually hurt YouTube.

Right now everyone is just concentrating on the gun and conservative channels because they are scary to a bunch of idiots. YouTube has also gone after knives and sword channels as well.

People are starting to point out all the videos on other channels that also violate these rules but YouTube ignores.

It's time to make YouTube live by its own rules.

Gun fetish videos on Pornhub seems kind of appropriate.

Let's face it, half of male America has been jerking off to guns for decades anyway. This is just like admitting the honest truth.

I'm sure the use of pump action, semi-automatic yoghurt rifles will soar.

Losing gun content won't hurt YouTube much at all. People who watch gun videos on YouTube are probably a fraction of actual American gun owners and fans. Indeed, I Googled a list of most popular gun channels and one of the most popular only had 1.7million subscribers. That's out of one billion active YoutTube users a month, the majority of whom will be from outside America (80% in fact it is estimated) and many of whom are women (38%). Even within America channels about cooking, fast food, games, movies and tools like Logan Paul dwarf the gun channels in subscribers and views. I see very little objection to this outside of gun communities. In contrast the recent changes to video generated income dubbed "adpocalypse" has caused far more of a stir, especially among YouTube content creators. And that was because YouTube changed the type of videos you could make money from after companies like Coca Cola refused to let their adds be played alongside extremist or questionable content. It flagged up things like profanity, political thought and so on (although the videos were never banned) so was far, far more wide ranging than any gun content was because it hit medium level content creators financially all over the globe. If it can survive that I'm sure it can survive a small group of unhappy gun lovers.

The adpocalypse you mention was the the first step in purging all right leaning content. Google is going after sites that are conservative or that it thinks are conservative or videos that even discuss an issue from the right. Google just fucked up but they are still refining the system.

Google, and YouTube are run by leftists. Right now those leftists have no problem putting restrictions or out right shutting down right leaning channels. YouTube has currently enlisted the aid of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to help them. The SPLC loves to call any group on the right a hate group.

One of the major problems on the left is that a very vocal and loud part of the left says everything on the right, everything, is hate speech. That vocal group on the left has the ears of Google, Facebook, and Twitter. Along with the scared shitless advertisers who are too dumb to understand that just because your ad shows up on a video doesn't mean the viewer thinks you support the video. People understand that YouTube needs ads to survive and that the ad doesn't mean the company supports the content of the video.

YouTube does get push back like when the banned Jordan Peterson (Canadian Professor) and they do back track sometimes but you have a video that shows something they consider right leaning? A high chance it's going to get demonetized or banned.

Right now they are being sued by PragerU. Google has restricted the channel severely. PragerU is not pushing hate speech or violence or conspiracy theories. PragerU just shows videos from a right political side point of view.

YouTube has also gone after people like Dave Rubin. Rubin was fine when he was on the Young Turks but when he jumped ship because as a liberal he thinks the progressives on the left are going too far and becoming poisonous YouTube went after him. He does fantastic interviews with people. Nothing on his channel could be considered hate speech or violent yet a lot of his videos are demonetized. He's being hit because people within YouTube don't like what's being said politically by his guests. Now as he says it's their company of course and they can do that but it's hugely hypocritical since they only seem to apply the demonetization to videos which in their eyes are right leaning politically.

Google in essence is trying to chase people off Youtube that it considers to be on the right. It does that by shutting down channels, restricting the channel to adults, and demonetizing videos in an attempt to financially cripple the channel to drive it off the site.
