    Literally. :vomit: :(

I like the story line and gameplay, but I can't play the damn game for more than 20 minutes before I get too queasy to continue. Especially the hovercraft/dune buggy parts.

The odd part is...I play Counter-Strike:Source regularly for hours on end with no motion sickness whatsoever. And it's the same engine.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to alleviate the nausea, besides chewing on Dramamine tablets while playing?

What type of monitor do you use? Whats screen res/refresh rate, what kind of brightness/contrast/gamma?
I can play HL2 for 8+ hours straight with no prob

17" CRT, 1024 x 768 (tried both full screen and window mode), dunno about refresh, guessing 60 or 75 Hz. Gamma is normal, brightness & contrast I keep somewhat high so I can see objects clearly.

Although I do keep the FPS readout open in CS:Source, and that's usually reading about 75-80 FPS, so maybe it's the refresh.

If the refresh is 60hz thats very very bad. 60 would make me sick within 20 mins, check that

Sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try adjusting that.

    Thanks! :techman:

Ok, I have read about this before. 60 Hz MIGHT have something to do with it, but I remember hearing that it has more to do with the way the game is coded, it gives a different field of view (75 degress IIRC) than other FPS games (which are typically 90 degrees).

I am not sure how one can do anything about it though.

Yeah, I read about this too. Quite a few people have had the nausea problem with this game.

    Hmm it might be that
The FOV should be a value encoded in the .exe. I have played games were people have made FOV patches, maybe there is one for HL2. That might be a prob as i bet steam CRC checks the HL2 .exe on startup

Dark Forces used to give me a killer headache (it was the only FPS to ever do so). Apparently it had something to do with the constant head bobbing in the game. I don't know if that's present in HL2 though.
