    VR only :(
Not tried it yet, as i don't think my eyes would work with it (I struggle to use bino viewers or binoculars)
I hope they convert it to normal gameplay :)
    I want more Half Life

I'd advise going to a VR arcade which has a high end setup, you might be surprised how comfortable it can be.

From everything they have said up to now it seems to be so tightly built around VR mechanics that converting it probably wouldn't work too well unfortunately.

Rarer than hen's teeth in the UK.

Hell most of our branches of PC World don't even have try-on VR headsets even though they sell the bloody things.

I'm a few hours and only four chapters in (taking my time to explore) and this game is fantastic.

Slower paced and more exploratory than HL2 and the Episodes. The sense of scale and place is astounding. Combine soldiers are dauntingly imposing at human scale, and headcrabs in VR are terrifying.

Finished a couple of days ago, wish I hadn't been spoiled about the ending but was still a great experience.

Technically possible, but it would be painful to do so and probably no fun.

Looks like the group "Unreal Academy" is pretty far down the road on doing a non-VR port. Main issue seems to be the gravity gloves.

I only ask because I don't have VR equipment for my PC and have been on the fence about investing the money. Half-Life Alyx may change my mind.

    What equipment are you using?

    I'm using a Rift CV1.

When I refer to it being painful, it's that I think lots of the game will be very unbalanced with more standard FPS mechanics.

The gravity gloves become so natural feeling so quickly in VR, I wouldn't be surprised to see other games steal the mechanic and I want a pair in real life now.

Me: "I'm buying a new computer later this week, I can play this!"

    Someone: "It's VR only."

Me: "Shit. Hey, I'm buying a computer that can actually use VR shit, maybe I'll want one eventually."

    Someone Else: "There's a mod for non-VR."

Me: "Awesome, I can play it after all!"

Someone: "Yeah, but, the modded version is broken. The game is designed for VR and a fully-working non-VR port is unlikely to happen."

Me: "God dammit, Someone, you're a dick."

I'm finally replacing my 10-year-old computer that I'm surprised can run Skyrim, (and surprised it's still running at all. I thought it was dead for good a few times but I managed to fix it,) and for the first time in my life I have a $1200 budget to play with instead of a $600 one. I was excited, then this had to ruin it for me.

Ah well, I can play Skyrim Special edition, Fallout 4, and The Outer Worlds now, so I'll be busy for a while.
