I could have been in orbit on day 5 (everything maxed out) but decided to see how much money I could make. Quite happy with this result. :)

I stuffed up and started using my thrusters too early on this one though, if I had waited to get to 4000 ft before using them I probably could have broken $300,000

edit: a tip for extending your time, once you are on the ground don't run your thrusters continuously. Once you are on the ground there isn't much chance of hitting a platform so you should be focusing on time, not distance. Tap your thruster a couple of times a second instead and you will keep moving just fast enough to not end the day while using a lot less fuel.

Okay, I think I've got it now. I think I was trying too hard before. A strategy that seems to work is to apply full thrust whenever you're heading upwards (to gain height) and then apply braking to descend more slowly.

I didn't get a shot at space until the 10th day and I made it with plenty to spare; I didn't even have to hit the booster rockets until just before I could see stars.

First try 16 and I probably could have done it on 14, but I wanted to buy everything.

My record is orbit on Day 4, parachutes are the best way to make early money.

I made it on Day 5...

...but I came damned close on Day 4...almost went into space on the initial launch.

I eventually got down to 7 days. I could maybe go down to 6, but I really can't see me getting 4 or 5, not without an awful lot of luck anyway.

I have an uncanny ability to fall all the way from damn near orbit back to the ground without hitting ANYTHING!

But I can do it in 10 or so days everytime now. To duplicate my 5 (almost 4) would take a couple of seriously good runs of luck on attempts 1-3.

    Fun! :D

Let's see, tips based on what worked for me: Use thrusters to steer to gold launchers, bounce, repeat. Use green launchers in a pinch. Generally don't go after blue launchers, but take 'em if they're conveniently located. Steer toward gold coins. Only go after silver coins if they're conveniently placed. Ignore copper.

    Damn...3 days.

I get almost nothing on my first two days, and the third and fourth day usually aren't great either.

How do you get high enough and stay up long enough to find ANYTHING on day 1 or 2? 99% of the time, I just go right back into the ground...

Did it one more time on day 3, and remembered to take some more screenshots.

I don't like upgrading my Left and Right rockets. Makes it too tough to control.

Is there any way to extract the .swf file so I can play offline without visiting the website?

I did free play after I reached Mars and got stuck in a loop where I was going to so far fast to the right that I kept on hitting platforms; after about 30 minutes I had gotten up to ~34k feet and 3k dollars and reset the game. Was able to get to Mars on my 6th day.

I had the same deal with free play and infinite platform hitting. I think it took me eight days so far to reach Mars.
