    Chat.......Hello from Mississippi

So, I have arrived. I am traveled for over 450 miles and I am in a small crossroads town. I passed through a part of Alabama where the space shuttle school is or whatever. Didn't stop to check it out. Should have brought camera. Hot here, and its not hot at home. My first time in Mississippi. Good to travel outside from work a bit. Hope to meet with Shep tomorrow evening if he is willing , otherwise I am off to beale street in memphis with my work mates tomorrow. Lets chat if anyone is willing.

When you say meetup, are you talking about a truck stop men's room?

Now remember one of the things tourist do is to take two pieces of wood, nail them together in the form of a lower case t and then set it on fire in a black mans front yard. Don't forget to wear the white sheet to protect you from the ashes.

It's a way to show how much you love the place.

Shep, I wish it could have worked out man. I have to kind of go with the collective since I didn't have my own transport. I feel sure at some time I will be back to this plant again and I will try and maybe take a day of vacation or something to check out the area more. Lots of lakes and water around. Might be a nice place to try my sailboat.

Dude, I wish I could but it looks like we are going to Tupelo tonight and then we leave out in the morning. Next time I will make the time to see you guys. I know the way and have my bearings on this area now. Y'all feel free to visit me when you get in my area. Its much cooler in the summer and I have home brew and spare rooms and stuff and a field to camp in if you are into that sort of thing or whatever. I feel like crap that I came this far and did not meet up with a single one of you. Leaving out in about 3 min for Tupelo. Talk more when I get back if not too late.

    In Memphis

Maybe next time if EP has more flexability, we can have an area get together in Memphis some place...Me and Bear and Shoes and Hawk and Apostle are all in the general area...hell, if RP likes boating and fishing he might time it right to get Elwood to join him at Pickwick while he's in the area.

Maybe Sheriff can bring the pontoon lol.

Yeah, somebody suggested we should have stayed at pickwick. Sound like a nice place, one of the plant bosses lives there on a golf course. We went and checked out Tupelo tonight. Ate at a nice place called Woody's $$$. It seems there was not a whole lot to see there after dark, we did drive by and see the house Elvis was born in. Dang, this is a little house. Nicely painted and a swing on the front porch but like 500 square feet or something. We cruised down Gloster street and then Elvis Aaron street and saw the whole town. Next time its got to be memphis for sure.

Well, it was a long assed day today but I am back in Asheville. Left Mississippi this morning in the pouring rain. Didn't sleep worth a damn, we had some brews at a Ruby Tuesday next door to the Hotel and I got to be late, then had a 3am wake up. Woke up to a loud wailing. I thought it was the damn clock radio I had been fucking with on the table(can choose to wake up to radio or cathedral chimes, bells, etc) that was going of. I jumped up heart a pounding and pushed and flipped ever button on it and then finally jerked the cord from the wall and the wailing continued. It was the bloody smoke detector. I had no idea how to shut it off. No smoke in my room but I figured someone was coming to the room so I got some clothes on and went to the door. Other people were out in the hall. Evidently everyone's smoke detector went off. I found out in the morning that some guy came in smoking a cig (non smoking hotel)to the front lobby and the detector there is so sensitive that this set it off. Well, I think that is bullshit. Those things should only go off in case of a real fire and serious smoke.
Anyways, very little sleep. We got up and left for home. I did talk the guys into checking out Shilo battlefield for a couple hours. Yankees have individual graves, rebs have a mass grave. Very interesting stuff. Nice drive through and checked out some of the monuments and larger cannon. Very humbling, bought a book (signed) on eyewitness accounts from the battle of Shilo. Not near enough time. Bought a pass good for a week. Even though it was a rainly day, I love the look of that Tennessee river. I would love to sail on part of it.
Left via highway22 to 64 to Nashville, then I 40 home. Long rainy drive, Glad to be back in these mountains. The flat lands look like they would be hot and miserable in the summer. Still, a nice visit at the expense of the company. Drove through a lot of open spaces today in Tennessee.

We went down to Pickwick while we were in the area for the Shiloh reenactment last year. Nice place. Chani and the kids stayed at the motel there while I froze my ass off in a canvas tent.
