The Air Force weight standard is based exactly on the BMI thing. I have never done well on it because I have big thighs. At my work they do a whole physical for people every few years and they try and pinch my skin with those calipers on my legs and they cannot unless the draw blood. They ain't fat they are just big. That is why I was the fastest at my highschool in the 50 or 100 yard dash. I did a 10k run once and nearly died. People have different builds.

My BMI Index is about 24.5, depending on my height and weight. I'm somewhere between 5'9" and 5'10". And if my bathroom scale is accurate, I'm around 166 today. But in a couple days I could be 160 or 170, depending on how active (and hungry) I am.

Forget weight standards....let's talk fitness standards in different branches.
I've been doing a lot of research on The AF, Army and Navy (my son will soon join one of the three) and hang on to your hats kids:

the fucking physical fitness requirements (pushup, situp, run) are the LOWEST/EASIEST for THE ARMY! :mystery:
When did the AF & Navy become the studly branches? I check multiple sources, and sure enough.....the graduating standards are about the same (AF is highest on pushups, my son's biggest concern) but the initial "diagnostic" mini-PT test for The Army (allows you to go to a training unit to begin training with your peers) only requires 13 pushups for a male.
    Yes, 13 pushups.

When I joined The Army I had never done a pushup in my life....so that's why I got to begin basic with no delay. I only had to do 13 (or whatever it was in 1988) which is pathetic. Of course two months later I could do the 34 or whatever I needed to graduate, but since NOBODY FAILED I think the Drill Sergeants played fast & loose on the counting.

So for soldiers who call the other branches wimpy.....you are misinformed.
