According to what happened in court the prosecutor fucked up on a technicality, the judge called it a mistrial and Judge Gloria Navarro dismissed the case with prejudice which restricted the state from trying it again. The judge was an Obama appointee who Harry reid recommended. So it is not terribly surprising it did not get a lot of press by the establishment dems, and the republicans did not care.

he did serve his time waiting for the trial to end in prison despite the judge wanting to release him during trial. This sort of thing seems to be how most of the trials on the standoffs and Land Management office terrorism are going.

Wonder how many people thought the same thing before Lexington and Concord? Or Fort Sumter? Or any of a number of incidents/riots/wars where people thought they heard a gun go off and just started shooting one another in a panic.

I could be wrong, but in my opinion, this is the moment they've been waiting for, and they're sitting it out. Oklahoma City didn't kick it off, Mother Emanuel didn't kick it off, Cliven Bundy didn't kick it off, Trump all but sending up the balloons hasn't kicked it off. I'm starting to think it's all bullshit.

It's a little different now, though. We've got far more people unemployed and a President who likes to embolden such people. A deliberate act by one side or the other, where it is clear who shot first, probably wouldn't start anything. But when no one knows who fired the first shot (assuming a shot was even fired) and a couple of people get killed, then tensions are going to be ratcheted up considerably. What happens at the next demonstration? Do people show up carrying guns? Do people threaten those with guns? Do some states try to enact more gun control laws? How do extremists respond to that?

I would say the result of the BLM seizure caused Cliven to back the fuck off his rhetoric because he did not want to end up in the thick of things. It seems like he is the type who loves for his minions to do the fighting while he sits safely back at home.

People have been showing up with guns. The security in Michigan just checked their temps and sent them in.

Most of them have always backed down when it comes to doing something violent. It is why I actually appreciate the police acting in a way that de-escalates the situation rather than how they escalate things when dealing with brown people. As much as I would love to see the white terrorists get their faces slammed into the dirt like the police do to black jay walkers, I think it leads to surrender without deadly standoffs if the idiots with the guns know they will be taken into custody more respectfully if they surrender.

I am crediting good police work for being respectful for keeping people calm who are clearly working themselves up into a frenzy. In this case I think it is the respect for the police and the faith that they will not be abused in custody that contributes to them not shooting things up in desperation and anger.
