...with a 2-iron? Oh yeah, he's the #1 golfer in the world, and I hit a fairway 10% of the time. Was in Miami Sat and Sun, and had grounds tickets to the World Golf Championship at Doral. I wonder if Vijay was irritated at all the people to the side of the teebox he's on looking back to see Tiger on the previous hole's green instead of clapping for his excellent shot? Fun day all around, even if a cup of beer was six dollaroos and I have a sunburn on everywhere save the whiteness of my sunglasses.
Agreed, six dollars would be a [-]cheap[/-] non-existent beer at Fenway Park. As for 250? You mean to say you can't do that Ramen? I expect such disability in Dan, but 250 yards is a mid-range shot, IMO.
Sorry, I think you are talking out your arse. range ball 250= about 280 with a pro v1 on course. Coupled with the fact that you only see the carry at the range and not any run. Now if im wrong i appologise but having seen your picture in MAOHS thread, i seriously doubt you are carrying 250 with a range ball. If im wrong i appolgise, you may be a very good golfer, but to put things in perspective- i play off 5 handicap so im pretty fair myself. And can give the ball a very big dunt, but at a driving range, with range balls, 250 carry is a huge shot. In fact there arent many ranges around here that have markings past 230. As for Ramens post, i take it you are talking about his tee-shot at the last yesterday? It wasnt even a three quarter swing he took at it. The guys incredible. Ive seen him quite a few times up close, last time the open was at carnoustie I waited for half an hour at a tee so i was right at the front in line with his ball watching him hit. The power and club head speed he was generating through the ball was unbelievable.
Stensons at the top of his game and ready to have a go at majors, Paddy power will give you 33/1 on him. I've stuck a fiver on him.
One other thing, Ramen, you better not be one of those yank assholes who shout 'your the man' as soon as a player has hit his shot, before even seeing if its a good one!
A pet hate of mine. They havent even seen the shot but yet shout so quickly just to be heard being the first person to shout. Wankers! Then they say the wrong thing to Monty or Sergio and they get a serious mouthful right back!
I'm not a fan of golf, but I've flown many of the PGA guys on different occasions. Most of them are a little bigger and a helluva lot stronger than they look on TV in their golf clothes. From what I hear, Tiger can bench better than 250. And I can tell you from very personal experience that Vijay is a fucking arse. If the fans are irritating him in any way, I rejoice in the knowledge.
That 250 is with a 2-iron, folks. I can hit a ball about 265 with a driver... on a good day. Stallion, yes, I was talking about his tee shot on the 18th with the "stinger." I saw his tee shots on the 3rd, 9th (par 3), 12th, and 18th. The ball goes so far so fast that you'd swear what you were seeing wasn't real. Wetterich respectively held his own, too. Although it almost backfired on him, Tiger played it safe and held him off.
Since tiger came on the scene, they have all had to get in shape. Tigers super fit and works out every day. You might not think it on tv, but when you see him in the flesh you realise how ripped he is.
And he put nothing into it. On a good day in summer i can nail my four iron 220, but its a full meat shot when i've got both balls behind it and it gets some run. The shot in question, tiger just papped it up the fairway like an old man. He did actually look like he was under pressure on that final hole. A day of bad play must have frayed his nerves a touch.
A bit of golf wisdom I heard years ago... "Never make a bet against a man with a one iron in his bag. He just might know how to use it."
Right now my actual is more like 150... That Prednisone gut you see took me down from a consistent, accurate 200 yard drive.
Makes sense. Without meaning to be offensive, the gut would definatley get in the way of your arms coming back through attacking the ball, and carrying the extra weight would also probably limit your shoulder turn.
250 with a 2 iron is impressive. I've done 230-235 with a 3 iron. Since it was at Doral, that would be a legit 250 due to the flat course. What annoys me is when the commentators go ga ga over a 360 yard drive up north. They forget to mention that the hole has 150 feet of downward slope, the ball rolled for 50 yards, and it's probably a dogleg.
