My computer conked out on me and when I opened it up it was drenched in dust - only a month or so since the last time I gave it a clean. I know there are devices designed to collect dust, which can be emptied afterwards. What are these devices called, and where can I get them from? For some unusual reason, despite near daily hoovering, dust is still attracted to my computer and it's time to put a stop to it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Well, for keyboards and stuff I've always used air in a can, but I'm not sure how safe/effective that would be for the inside of the computer, because sometimes that air gets really cold and can even get a little wet if you spray it for too long. Actually, I have the same problem with the inside of my computer. It hasn't really caused me any problems though. Maybe a feather duster?
Air can works for me. Of course that leaves you with gobs of the shit flying thru the air, but one deals with that as a separate issue.
I don't want to hoover the inside of the computer. Last time I did it it ended up blowing out my onboard graphics card - which wasn't the worst thing to happen since it forced me to buy a independent graphics card and I'm much happier with that. Not sure what happened tho, might have been the static from the hoover that screwed up motherboard's graphics card. So I won't be risking hoovering the thing again, next time it might take out something more valuable than a crappy onboard graphics card. If there's a good way to prevent such a large build up of dust in the first place I'd like to know what it is!

http://www.computerdust.com/ That's a handy dandy coincidence right there. Who'd have thought computerdust.com exists? Lol today is my day to make lucky guesses. Oh yes.

Also, the General Oblation Board is currently looking at better ways to get rid of Dust. It will soon be a thing of the past.
Compressed air can. Get them for under 10 quid. Computer hardware shops usually sell cans, and I think places like dabs.com do.
Fire works too, failing that just stick a painting brush in there and brush it all off outside the case then suck it up.
You might want to try raising your case about 10 cm above the floor, so you don't suck in every bit of you kick up when walking past it. It might also help to make sure that the fan that sucks air into the box isn't located near the bottom of the case, you collect more dust like that.
