And you would be wrong. By even the moderators admission IIRC.

And that's the whole problem. Guessing isn't good enough. If there was transparency and we know the facts maybe that might convince us that the rule is warranted. But the facts are being kept secret and we have no way of knowing whether or not this is trumped up bullshit.

Yes, and the reason that people like me and the courts exist is because "normal adult human reasonsing" isn't all there is in the world. Some times other forms of analysis are required. Having said that, wanting to see the evidence behind the justification for a rule IS normal adult reasoning. When your government passes a law do you just accept it blindly? Laws don't get passed without transparent debate in any democratic structure. The basic principle is not so different here. After all, a law is a rule....and you seem to forget that this forum only exists because of the loyalty of it's long term members. I think they have earned the right to transparency and fairness.

Well, I can't disagree with you there. Didn't the shelter threads always say who reported the post? IIRC, apostle was one of the worst offenders.

I'm amused that you reported a post from 11 years ago, and it was at least partly responsible for getting your abilities to report posts removed.

All this entire thread really is about is Dayton's tactic of "Using the Moderators as Weapons" backfiring on him.

I've never even said anything about that since a decade and a half ago at the TrekBBS. Why do people keep whining about it here?

Yes. I have referred to it and commented about what was the big deal. But I've never said I used this tactic at Worldforge.

You never said you "Use the Moderators as Weapons" on here, but you did say you do try to get people to post things to get them warned and banned so your opinion is the only one remaining. Same thing, different name.

You've certainly tried on more than one occasion. The vast majority of the posts you've reported over the last couple of years were attempts to do just that.

I really wish this software saved reported posts. :garamet:

Seriously. I think it would be quite eye opening to a few people to see what percentage of the reports are made by just 2 or 3 people.

When last I checked, a couple years ago, it was apostle, faceman, and ... don't remember the third highest ( I work in statistics, it's what I do ) If it wasn't Dayton, he was definitely in the top 5.

Well, you, but you are probably going to claim that you don't do it, hence shootER's lament.

Interestingly, neither Apostle nor Faceman has used it much over the past two years.

I haven't posted much in the last two years. So ..., it was longer ago than that. five or six years ago maybe. Last time the issue came up of someone abusing the report function. And, it was just copy and past from the shelter. I don't/didn't have access to do any real statistics.

So this proves the bullshit. I haven't reported posts more than 2-3 posts a month on average, if that. How is that abuse?

What are my abuses? Please list them. Unless you can make accusations, but the evidence is, once again, a big secret?

I suppose you'll ignore this post like you ignore the other tough ones.....

No, we don't. It's all a lie. That's why, despite repeated requests, that can't produce any evidence. It's a bullshit rule designed to shut up anyone who protests. The very definition of censorship.

And if that were so, you would probably be banned from the Helpdesk.

Unless someone is keeping tract on a spreadsheet, how are they going to know? If what shootER said earlier is correct and the software doesn't keep track.

Oh, have lucky I am to be able to post in the Help Desk!

What point is the help desk when you won't answer questions, avoid half my posts and make accusations towards me that you refuse to back up with evidence?

How can you have a rule without knowing the abuse or the frequency of reports? Surely they must have a pretty decent idea?

My job is unique in that a very few people have control over information that is used by the company globally - over 40,000 people. When someone starts complaining, I have a short list of the people who complain and cause me grief. When I'm feeling especially plucky, I can tell which one of those complainers it is depending on what they are complaining about.

And if you accused one of those complainers of being so I am sure you could list the complaints, no?

I keep track, on a general level, but without a more permanent system log, it's just my word. For some people, my word would be enough, but not for others, and especially not for those who would contest it.
