I am wondering what condoms you think are best? Most reliable, most durable, and most pleasurable? I have no idea. My girlfriend seems to be somewhat against the pill, which scares me. I don't like that. I want her on it before we start having sex. I want to take every safety precaution so I don't become a daddy at 19. Thanks, Hummus
Well, kudos for being responsible. Can't tell you anything about reliable condoms, but have you talked to your GF about why she doesn't want to go on it? I know I've heard some horror stories of infertility and worse from people being given birth control they shouldn't even be on or being given too strong a dosage. I don't blame her if it's something like that she's afraid of.
Our university gave out "pasante" condoms for free. Stay well away, they broke more than once when I was using them. I recommend durex fetherlite. They seem to be the thinnest kind you can get, and at risk of sounding like an advert, fact is they're the best known for a reason. A friend of mine tried 'Mates', and had an allergic reaction. I don't know what it was, but she was fine with Durex, so I never bothered trying them, as that seems like a very very horrible place to have an allergic reaction. Thing is, you don't want to go for the cheapest option in a situation like this. Also, there's more birth control options than the pill. I recommend you look into them, as fact is, the morning after pill is simply a double/triple dose of whatever she will take when she's on the pill. And if barrier protection breaks, you have no kind of backup, you will have to take the morning after pill. I'd be on the pill if I was allowed (can't because of medical reasons), because as well, it means you can regulate your period. Know when it's coming, choose to have it earlier, or delay it if for example, its due when you're planning on a weekend away, or at a festival or something. And also, go look up a healthsite, or the family planning clinic. They can tell you much more than general people on the internet.
^on apostle it was supposed to be a disagree!!! wtf is going on here? I clicked disagree, but it came out as agrees!!! why is this happening?
You should have waited until you had posrep to rep. Since you tried to rep without a green block, bad things happened.
Exactly. I've no idea what sort of condom is "best". Can't stand the things myself, tho in my wild oats days I pretty much just used Trojan. Don't recall the specific variety.
I've never trusted Trojan, because of the name. I mean, if they can't even be bothered to realise why it's such a bad name, then what else have they slacked on??!
I guess I really am a n00b if I didn't know that. Well, you learn something new every day! Now how do I get into the green...
Thank you!! Very helpful!! I will definitely stay away from "pasante" condoms and the cheep ones. It's not like they are even remotely expensive! I think we will try those Durex Fetherlite's. A friend of mine also recommended Durex. I will talk to her about The Pill more. The Morning After Pill also sounds great if all else fails. She (nor I) are even slightly opposed to abortion though. We even joked that if she did get pregnant and had an abortion, we should donate it to embryonic stem cell research!! (*Both of us are science nerds who are majoring in biology). I am going to have both of us look at some medical sites to give her some more info about the pill and other forms of birth control. Are you fucking kidding me? That is just stupid! How do you know if I ever want to get married? I'm not sure I ever want to get married, so should I stay a virgin forever? I'm not even sure I want kids so should I just not have sex because I don't want to do it to make more humans? I want to have sex for pleasure and fun, not to make kids. Therefore, there is no reason to wait. That is DEFINITELY the most boring thing to do!!!
I always found it ironic that a condom brand was named for a civilization that was destroyed when its protective walls were breached... ...and lots of Greek seamen rushed in. P.S. I always found contraceptive suppositories to be the most convenient form of birth control: no side effects of the pill for her, no sensation-killing latex experience for me. Just pop one in, get to your foreplay, and, just about the time she's ready to go, so is the contraception...
After I was (accidentally created and) born my dad got a vasectomy. He loved me a lot, but didn't want any more kids. He got it for free in Desert Storm. The military was preforming them a lot so the guys wouldn't impregnate Saudi women.
