The highways are supported by a tax of about 12 cents a gallon, with the other 6 or so cents allocated to deficit reduction. All high gas taxes accomplish is emptying everybody's wallets and decreasing economic activity, leading to increased unemployment.

I would also move to make Congress pass regulations regarding a person from one state fucking a person from another state, because all interstate commerce is under Congressional purview, and venereal diseases would be much easier to contain if they couldn't easily spread between states.

I had to laugh at the "I'd put three Democrats in my cabinet" comment he made on the first page. Like he'd listen to any cabinet member, Republican or Democrat, that disagreed with him!

I'm now convinced more than ever that Dayton is mentally disabled and needs to get professional help. The extent of this ever continuing delusions has reach disturbing levels.

You think? I would say this thread is pretty good evidence that he is 'at it'. Its nothing more than an obvious troll thread.

I have a picture of me with long hair and round glasses. I have a very skinny nose too. I think I could have replaced John Lennon in the mid 90s when the "new" Beatles song came out. Paul and Ringo are still alive and Dani Harrison plays guitar pretty well. I think it's time for the long awaited Beatles reunion.

How do you figure? It is pretty natural to believe you would do better in a job that interests you than most other people.

So, reducing abortions by 50% while making no provision for improved sex education, access to contraception, pre- and post-natal healthcare. How would you do it? Stand there like Mengele with the women lined up in front of you and flick your finger right or left, "Yes for you, no for you..."? What happens to the women you turn away? Prison until they deliver? What happens after that?

As I've stated. Give the states incentives to do it. You make the same mistake what's his name does up thread.

States are much better at dealing with some issues. For some states more access to birth control might be the answer. For some states comprehensive sex education. And so forth. Or various combinations of each.

Why should the federal govt. have the answer to every question?

Interesting though that you basically equate reductions in abortions with a well known Nazi monster.

No, just your decision-making process. Or, in this case, non-decision. :lalala: "Not my problem!"

Except if you mandate a 50% reduction at the federal level, you're not "leaving it up to the states," are you?

I said nothing about "mandate" Garamet.

Perhaps you and the others should actually READ instead of thinking "this is a Dayton3 thread, I already know what he is talking about"

You - as President - promise to reduce abortions by 50% by "leaving it up to the states." I suppose you have state-by-state statistics showing that this would work somehow. How?

Question: If "We'll just give the states some money and let them figure it out" were really the silver bullet, don't you think somebody would have tried it by now? Or for that matter, don't you think some state would have tried out a few of those brilliant ideas already, federal incentives or no?

I suspect the answer in this case would be more punitive, as in "cut off all federal aid to states that allow abortions." But maybe I'm just being cynical...

    I think you've all skipped a step.

The real question is how would this policy statement help Dayton get any non-bible thumper votes?

Being president means you're supposed to represent the people - or at least placate to them on some common level. Raising gas prices a dollar can't possibly be what the people want. His policies suggest he's completely out of touch with what the people actually want from government. How fucking important is it to reduce the abortion rate by 50%? Who's talking about this? Why does the federal government care about such things?

No, it's pretty arrogant is what it is. It's natural to want to have a crack at it, but only someone wrapped up in their own sense of self-superiority would assume that they can do it better than anyone else. I still, to this day, don't know where you get this grand idea that you are one of the the smartest people on the planet, because I see little evidence to back it up.

We're not talking about being the manager of the local grocery store. We're talking about being the leader of one of the most powerful nations on the planet. You have zero people skills, a distinct problem in getting people to like or respect you, a history of falling out with colleagues and/or employers, views which often display inherent ignorance and many other counter-productive traits that go directly against because effective in a position of significant resposibility. You wouldn't even be able to get elected, not least because of the problems listed, but also because you have a history of domestic violence, because of the garbage you have posted all over the internet and because of your poor history with job security.

Once again, claiming things that I have never said.

I gave a google link up thread to sources for President Clintons anti teen pregnancy program.

    He didn't have "mandates IIRC.

He didn't have "cut off federal aid to states".

I would assume you read about none of those programs Garamet.

    Disgusting.

Estimates have put the number of abortions in the US in the 1950s (pre-legalization) at about a million per year. Presently, with a population roughly double the size the US had in the 1950s, the number of abortions is roughly about a million per year. So, despite the increase in population, the amount of women having abortions in the US is basically unchanged.

Dayton, and his ilk, are so worried about abortion because they're convinced that all those aborted babies are going straight to Hell (their mothers can ask for forgiveness at any time, so aren't automatically damned, unlike their fetuses). One wonders why they're concerned with worshiping a god who would doom a fetus for all eternity for something that they had no control over.

    First paragraph

Post a link. And it has to be from a source that DOES NOT support legalized abortion as they have a strong agenda to push. Find a neutral source.

And I DO NOT THINK aborted babies are going to hell. Saying that shows you know jack all about my religious beliefs and that in fact you are so utterly ignorant of them they you should just shut up about the subject.

Would you settle for an anti-abortion site which agrees with that figure?
Nowhere in the article does the author dispute that figure, FYI.

Then why worry about it? The fetus gets an insta-ticket to Jesusland, with none of this mucking about with all the pain and suffering that can come with living in this world. Being aborted certainly beats starving to death in Africa like many children do today.

For the same reason that murdering someone is immoral. It is not for man to arbitrarily choose to end the life of someone else aside from instances of self defense or in defense of others.

    Unacceptable source.

By his own admission he is simply parroting the figure claimed by a PRO ABORTION group. It doesn't matter whether he disputes that or not.

When does "life" begin? What's your stance on the death penalty? Are you "murdering" someone if you abort a fetus that's not going to survive until birth? What about rape?
