I have 10Mbps down / 3Mbps up at home, from Charter. I've never had a single problem, almost 0 downtime. The only problem I have is their billing department SUCKS. DSL isn't offered in my area. I've also talked to many people on DSL that says it blows hard goats for gaming. I also have Digital/HD/On-demand/DVR cable, plus VoIP phone service.. I pay $99 a month for all of it. At work I'm on a T3.. so it pretty much makes everything else I've ever used seem slow, depending on the site I'm connecting to.
When we lived at our previous home, we had Comcast cable and their billing department sucked. We've had DirecTV since we've been here and never had a problem.

Don't be surprised if in the near future your cable company comes knocking with its own bundle that includes digital phone for about the same as what you're paying now for cable and dsl.
