    From a good friend/ex-Team Leader.

And since I'm on here, I'm gonna add 1SG James Watkins. I only knew him outside of work. Really good guy. Friend of a friend, but quickly we got on, and knowing how much my wife hated this town, everytime he came over or we met him somewhere else he'd always strike up conversations with Anne. James had some problems. After six tours both to Iraq and Afghanistan, that could be understood. Then last Easter when Anne and I had met my family in Savannah for the Holiday, I got a call saying he had offed himself in a hotel room. Apparantly when his gf came back from Afghanistan and he proposed to her (he'd been showing the ring off for weeks) she said yes. Life was perfect so he didn't need to take his meds anymore. Then two days later they had a stupid fight. Depression + Withdrawls + 1911s don't mix well.

Kinda fucked up that the military doesn't include suicides in their lists of the fallen, whereas if someone had later died of physical complications from injuries incurred in combat they would recieve full honors and their family full benefits.

    Staff Sgt.Ahmed K. Altaie February 25, 2012 41 Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Army reservist assigned to Provincial Reconstruction Team Baghdad

Altaie was categorized as Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown after he was allegedly kidnapped while on his way to visit family in Baghdad, Iraq, on October 23, 2006. The Pentagon changed his status to Missing-Captured on December 11, 2006. He was last seen in a 10-second video posted on a militant Shiite Web site in February 2007 by a previously unknown Shiite group. On February 25, 2012, the Pentagon announced that it has received and positively identified Altaie's remains at the U.S. military's mortuary in Dover, Delaware.
