As I love to point out, if you go back and look at a history of the Oscars, most of the time the film which won Best Picture is not the film most people associate with that particular crop of movies or think are really good. The year Citizen Kane was nominated for Best Picture, do you know what film won? How Green Was My Valley. Bet you've probably never heard of it, let alone seen it. Meanwhile, most people have heard of Citizen Kane and even if they haven't seen it are familiar enough with the storyline to know what "Rosebud" means (in terms of the film, not the nickname Hearst gave to his mistress' clit).

It's still a really good movie. My personal favorite.

Seriously, who is asking for another Indiana Jones movie in the year 2020?

Am I missing something @The Night Funky ? Is there something racist about having the opinion that Dances With Wolves is a really good movie?

you missed the joke. Costner directed The Postman & Water World in his typically slow paced fashion and they dragged....ass....and seemed twice as long as they were.

    This.

People are free to like what they like, but for me I thought DWW was way too long, just like his subsequent films (Wyatt Earp in particular).

Agreed. I like his films, but the lengthiness of them (among other things) keeps me from loving them. Wyatt Earp has the misfortune of appearing near simultaneously with Tombstone, which is the opposite of patience testing.

Nolan does a better job keeping me engaged for ass-numbing runtimes.

I predict Ford will have to fight Keith Richards to the death at some point. There can be only one.
