I don’t require the president to be a Christian, but he or she needs to have some form of moral compass, which the current occupant notably lacks.

Given that the house and senate are controlled by republicans, no, it isn't time yet.

Are Trump's peccadilloes impeachable offenses? Not yet. Maybe we'll know more from Mueller before November.

Meanwhile, enjoy the slow-motion train wreck.

Moral compass hasn't exactly been a typical presidential feature over the years.
Tho trump's does seem to be the first one to be completely broken.

    Didn't you read the Bible?
I seem to remember you were trying to do that, and I snarkily said something like "wait to you get to Kings, it reads like the diary of a serial killer :diacanu:".
You must have bailed on that little project, otherwise you'd know that "Christian values", are fucking horrible.

I think you're thinking of someone else. I read all the main scriptures many years ago and my comment wasn't a endorsement of any of the content, rather that one would expect the President of a self proclaimed Christian nation to reflect some of those "values" in contrast to Dayton's suggestion that Trump never claimed to.

Though, if we can believe Omarosa, Trump actually wanted to be sworn in on a copy of The Art Of The Deal...

Trump is a Christian like me. We say we are Christians. We believe in God.

Just don't ask us anything about the bible. Or church. :ramen:

    You might believe in God.

If Trump can conceive of a being greater than his own self-image, it's Fred Trump and he's only there for Donald to scream "DO YOU LOVE ME NOW?" at.

IIRC it was Bob Dole when he was running for president in 1996 who when asked if he was a Christian would snarl "I believe in God".

My dad didn't like Bob Dole due to his history as a wounded World War Two veteran and his ties to Archer Daniels Midland. Mom adored him though.

My dad always had a deep distaste for wounded veterans who he saw as playing on (and in some cases living on) their combat experience and wounds for the rest of their lives.

His ideal that you should never talk about being wounded if at all possible. He kept his loss of hearing in one ear a private matter as possible for most of his life until his 70s when at the urging of his family he was prevailed upon to seek out VA treatment for it.

So in other words it's not the fact of being wounded he had an issue with, it was how veterans discussed the fact that they were wounded. Correct?

Yes. Dad felt that being sent off to fight was honorable.....but unpleasant and regrettable. It was simply a bad job that had to be done. He loathed the veterans who basically came back with a wound and seemed to expect to be treated as "eternal heroes".

All old folk do this, D. It allows them to conveniently ignore requests to help with chores or discuss inheritances, whilst still being miraculously able to hear the offer of a whiskey or other alcoholic beverage.

If Trump got impeached, it could be fairly certain it would end up with someone less unstable. Even if it's Pence, at least you can be sure condom sales are gonna go down and sales of those little baby Jesus figures are going up. Plus a good chance to make money offering economy international flights to any LGBTQ citizens.

And of course, yet another fool who attacks someones family members.

Typical but given our moderators and administrators behavior here, no surprise.

I'm quite confident that one day there will be a reckoning.

You joke, but my mother is like this. She has a high pitch frequency deafness and uses it whenever she fancies ignoring someone or shouting at my old man. She says there is no hearing aid that can help. Last time she was tested? 1970s. :jayzus:
