    Bottom line:

It's here because we still want it here. Use it or not as you like.

Besides, do you really want one less forum to rep war in? ;)

But it does seem like a rather odd room at this point. I find the threads interesting, but hardly notice them because I don't stop by often. If it had more traffic (as it did in the anti-tbbs heyday), then I'd frequent the place, but with the traffic level it has, there isn't much justification for stepping inside.

If I had started this thread in the Red Room it would be on page 2 by now.

Use new posts instead of the front page.

    I recommend this to everyone.

Stirs the whole board up into one page, and you can take threads by interest, or cue, or both.

I do that, but it doesn't help much in rooms where the most recent post is more likely than not a day or two old. I usually hit all the rooms first when I get here, then switch to most recent.

Well, I still think it's a good idea to have a hidden forum. There are mods at some other boards who would outright ban someone for badmouthing their BBS somewhere else online. I think I've even heard of that being the case with a few WFers back when Lisa was in charge of TBBS, but that's just hearsay on my account.

As I said, it's not broke, so why fix it. On Face's logic, we might as well merge all the Green Room and WF Lab and Workshop threads into RR, because they don't get much traffic, either.

If you don't want to see it, unjoin "The Gray Brigade". When there are 0 members, then the forum will cease to exist completely.

So...just because he's not paying for the bandwidth he isn't allowed to have an opinion?

Which means you can't have an opinion about his having an opinion, and whoa circular logic.

Nah, it's just that there are posters too lazy to form their own board, but chockful of complaints about how other people run theirs.

The Gray Room exists to keep the whining about other boards out of the RR, because people didn't want to see such posts. So it serves its purpose in that regard.

    How about this:

Elwood says he doesn't like discussion of board policy in the Red Room. So why not discuss board policy using this room? It is, after all, a forum for bitching about other forums. So why not use it to bitch about this one too?

That's a very good idea, actually, because he also doesn't want it in the Helpdesk. The thing is, such discussions aren't subversive or dangerous, they are usually just venting or even joking. Doing it here might work well for that purpose.

Plus, then Listkeeper could play the asshole role he usually takes in the Helpdesk without causing people to demand he be warned or de-modded.

Hmm. That actually has a lot of merit.

Keeps the shit hidden in the lav where it belongs and lets actual help happen in the Help Desk.

I probably could be easily convinced. Listkeeper...what do you think?

It would certainly increase traffic to the room. Most people with complaints about other boards don't even know about Wordforge.

Reason being, not ALL discussion of OTHER boards is bitching and moaning. Every so often, someone does discuss something positive about a board.
