More fun from Hamas. A video of Dec 2022 speech by Mahmoud al-Zahar, the military commander of Hamas, has resurfaced. In it he states: "The entire planet will be under our law, there will be no more Jews or Christian traitors." https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/article-765304 Yeah, one of these things is not like the other.

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2023/10/10...-to-tell-kids-to-delete-instagram-tiktok.html Because Hamas has started spamming social media with hostage videos and footage from the attacks, apparently.
I can’t imagine a world where Bibi did screwed up purposefully. There is 0 chance now he has any political career once this is over.
I tend towards the cockup over conspiracy, but if there was any non-autocratic leader you could believe it of, it's him.
Good thread. Lines up with my knowledge and experience. https://x.com/jayndonde/status/1711792581821301249
They really are remarkably dumb. Israel is getting ready to roll into Gaza, has already flattened plenty of areas, and it's not exactly like they can easily avoid civilian deaths - Hamas have made sure of that, it's not like making use of hospitals or schools is beneath them - and over the coming days and week there'll be images that'll wash away support for Israel. I mean, it's not like chunks of the world aren't already being a bit mealy mouthed about it all, and whilst the left certainly like to talk about how terrible antisemitism is, the walk usually involves liking a picture of an evil capitalist caricature with an air of 1930s Germany about it. A few torture or hostage videos will just shore up support for Israel.
It feels more like a plan Heath Ledger's Joker would come up with than any sort of sane blueprint for accomplishing anything, other than abstract nonsense like "sending a message" or "watching the world burn."
If you are talking about HAMAS why not use the word HAMAS? Why did you use Palestinian? As I have explained Palestinians in the Occupied Territories are a minority of all Palestinians and Gazans are a minority of Occupied Territory Palestinians and HAMAS is a minority of Gazan Palestinians so using the term ‘Palestinians’ when you mean HAMAS is not clear communications.
Again, you shouldn’t take everything so personally. I have been clear, multiple times to multiple people that it is important we tighten our language up.
Considering she's appointed herself as the person who speaks for the EU on foreign policy, she might want to go back and delete this one.
Because I wasn't talking about just Hamas. I was talking theoretically about the Palestinians in Gaza that are Hamas support base being forced to relocate and a massive aid campaign to help them past that point. Why? Because almost 50% of are under 18 and have been indoctrinated by Hamas now their entire life to hate Israel and want it destroyed. And if you'll note I said that was a possibility, one that wouldn't work, and that 'the best you can do is force a leadership change in the Gaza strip. And that won't last.' It was clear that I was talking about the Gazan Palestinians when I kept referencing the Palestinians in Gaza. I get it , people sometimes skim long posts, but that doesn't mean I didn't say exactly what I meant if you bothered to take in the content of the post. So no, I don't think I need to match my verbiage to your preferred language. Especially as that is not at all what I meant.
The way Bibi is handling this is indefensible, the Palestinians didn't do this, HAMAS did. I also don't like Biden's response, it's disgusting. I get that any US president would be placed in an impossible position, but, "We stand with Israel" what the hell does that mean?
Of course that's the thinking, but it's straight up wrong. It's the only escape route. If they escape, then you hunt them down later.
Or, ya know, you and Egypt are the two largest recipients of foreign aid from the United States so maybe you work out something where your guys ‘assist’ the Egyptians when they are checking IDs of folks fleeing.
That’s not an apt analogy. Imagine if after 9/11 Bush had sent a special ops team to take out Al-Qaeda’s 2nd in command and working with the Pakistani intelligence instead of invading Afghanistan, and then ran on preventing further terrorist attacks. And then there was another 9/11-scale attack in mid-2004.
I don't know if they'd be able to check everyone, but yes, that would be ideal. Biden is obviously going to have to sit down with Egypt and talk to them about how to solve this, but that's probably also going to involve the Saudis and in case I haven't been clear in the past, fuck the Saudis.
There's a world of difference between winter in Ukraine and winter in Palestine. Keep lecturing me on not all bad things being the same, though. I dunno, I'd think all the senior Hamas guys already got out ASAP, or have access to secret routes out of Gaza inaccessible to regular people. This just seems like Netanyahu murdering and terrorizing civilians just because he can. He's as bloodthirsty and cruel as Hamas.
Looks like the 'Egypt warned Israel about the attack' narrative is... kinda? Per the Financial Times they did warn Israel that things in Gaza were 'about to explode' but that wasn't specific as to the nature of the issue. Without details, Shin Bet didn't pass them up the chain. On Monday, the Associated Press reported that an Egyptian intelligence official had said that Egypt had warned Israel repeatedly about “something big," but that this warning was downplayed as Israeli officials were focusing on the West Bank. “We have warned them an explosion of the situation is coming, and very soon, and it would be big. But they underestimated such warnings,” said the official to the AP. On Tuesday, Al-Monitor reported as well that senior Egyptian officials had warned Israel of an impending attack from Gaza, but that these warnings were not specific and not brought to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attention. On Wednesday, the Financial Times cited two unnamed officials as stating that Egyptian intelligence repeatedly warned Israel that the situation in the Gaza Strip could "explode." The officials added that there was no hard intelligence about a specific attack and this was only a "general warning."
It's pretty clear that Hamas got what they wanted and Bibi just ensured that Hamas got more supporters. It's despicable.
Yeah, Hamas doesn't care about "freeing Palestine," and Netanyahu doesn't care about "protecting Israel." They're only interested in making "the other side" suffer because it makes their dicks hard. The cruelty is the point. The current generation of senior citizens/amoral ghouls running too much of the world can't die off fast enough.
