She shook those cheap carry handle sights off, couldn't keep them on through an entire mag, got some Pro-mag backup sights, mainly because they have a front sight for railed gas blocks, think I'm gonna bite the bullet and get an EOTech for her.
Honestly, skip the pro-mag, and if this is for self / home defense, skip the EoTech. Don't skimp out or you'll just keep spending money over and over and over again
The PM sights are pretty good, actually, they hold zero and haven't shaken off, and that's saying something for her. If not an EOTech, what do you recommend for low light situations? Also, the 400 FP Hawk ammo came in, supposedly it's the most accurate .50 Beowulf round.
Anything from Aimpoint. The Aimpoint PRO is their entry level device. If you've got the coin go for the T1 with 2 MOA dot.
The problem with the Beowulf is that she tends to shake things loose, the T1 looks nice, though, this guy here http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_18/568182_Aimpoint_T1_vs__Eotech_512___Review__Picture_heavy_.html has the mount I'd probably use if I choose to get one.
That's the nice thing about buying quality components, thrydon't get shaken loose. That's one of the reasons why I preach avoiding the cheap stuff. The good stuff is priced the way they are for a reason. For the T1 get a LaRue mount and it won't go anywhere. Get an set of ARMS, Troy, or Yankee Hill backup iron sights and they won't lose their zero. For the Aimpoint PRO the integral mount is good to go if you want absolute cowitness or you can get a LaRue mount to get a lower 1/3rd cowitness.
Yeah, I went down and checked out the T1 today The lens is tinted a bit but gives a decent sight picture, I'll probably pick one up after the semester ends, might go ahead and order the mount next week.
Oh just from what you were saying it sounded like you were less than thrilled. The one problem that the aimpoints have is for people who have an astigmatism. For them the dot will appear to be shaped like a comma.
