I genuinely hope the third party folks begin digging on how best to build up their parties for the midterms. For too long, people have seen them as a waste of time, and until they get more visibility outside of being spoilers in tight elections, we will get nowhere. There are a ton of disgruntled people who are not happy, even those who "won." The third party campaigns for 2020 begin Nov 9th. Get out there on Twitter andcFB and make yourselves known.

The third parties really have to stop putting all their attention on these quixotic bids for president, though. Maybe look for House and Senate races where there's a particularly strong personality who they can get to throw their hat into an election that doesn't have anyone particularly strong in the major parties, or get some major party officeholders to defect.

Yes, but I would rather the system work as intended: in 2 years, the Democrats take the House and Senate. In 4 years, a Democratic President. It might happen, it might not, but it is infinitely better than assassination or any other extra-legal attempt. For better or for worse, Trump won. And by that I mean, for definitely worse, but he won legitimately.

Clinton called Trump to concede

Shortly after Wisconsin was called for Donald Trump, putting him over the 270 threshold needed to win the White House, Hillary Clinton called him to concede the election, The Washington Post has confirmed.

Donald Trump confirmed the phone call in his speech, congratulating her on her campaign.

“We owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country,” Trump said.

Let's face it, America was fucked once you whittled it down to Trump and Clinton, but it feels like you have a suicide wish in going for the worst possible candidate. Democrats, what possible value was there in going for Clinton as the candidate? The most polarising candidate you could possibly have chosen?

I feel sad, as this result means I don't feel I can set foot in the US for at least 4 to 8 years if Trump does half of what he says he's going to (Good! The board Trumpites will cry! ). What a shame. A country I looked up to as a child and idolised is now populated by buffoons hell bent on ignoring the principles of their nation's founding and letting the world burn around us, while not caring about the generations to come. Today, in my opinion, America became an enemy of the rest of the world. The greatest country of the world is now the greatest joke of the world. You have given fuel to the international perception of Americans as a childlike people. The toddlers of the world stage. But sadly it's not just you is it? Brexit, the rise of the far right in Europe, the rise of the far left with the likes of Jeremy Corbyn, the rise of terrorism, shows that the world over people are lurching towards extremism, be it in whatever form. Today, the likes of Putin and ISIS are celebrating, as now they have a candidate that will fulfil their dreams of division. Did we not learn the lessons of history? Clearly not. What world are we creating for our children when we vote based on soundbites and rhetoric and nothing more?

I cannot properly articulate how I am feeling right now, so shocked am I. I feel so sorry for the Americans who did not want this to happen and are now forced to live this disaster every day of their lives for however many years this dictator sits on the throne. Personally, I feel like I lost a life long friend today. No longer is America our closest and greatest ally.

I have not felt this dismayed by a world event since 9/11. It's going to take a few hours to properly digest this I think.
