Oh, not to hijack the thread. The 2nd amendment is absolute and makes any attempt to restrict the access to and possession of firearms as unconstitutional, including all previously passed gun control laws including but not limited to the: 34 NFA, the 38 FFA, the OCA 68, the GCA 68, the FOPA 68, the UFA 88, GFSZA 90, the BVPA 93, and the BSCA 22. They all need to be tossed.

you were surfing the net before I was allowed. I didn’t get unrestricted net access till around 98. My father worked in computers/IT security and was a part of the early internet and he acted as gatekeeper for as long as he could because he knew I would have gotten into trouble had he not. Sadly.

I am just saying this to brag (according to everyone else), and because it does give me a sort of unique view of the formation of places like this and TrekBBS. I get some of the rules of the moderators and why some things are trolling because I was one of the people who used to exploit the free communication and data of the internet. Someone might be interested in such an old school POV, and I can give that. It is sort of like being Q without the super powers of being Q where you can see what formed the systems of the internet universe which exist, and the factions that are present in most of the areas of it.

I have also worked in IT and security, and way back I used to administrate dial in BBS and was friends with my ISP owners back in the day of dial up. I have been the cause for altering policy on things like sock accounts and back in the day could easily flood users offline with traffic if I wanted. For all their importance to TrekBBS, TK is not even a blip in the universe of trolls. If real trolls knew of TK, they would swoop in and eat that satellite for fun.

Maybe I am more like a Riddick than a Q when I consider what I can do online. Q is a little too powerful IMO. I know I am going to survive on the internet as a force until I die, but I am not unstoppable.

I hold no mod powers nor do I want any considering the trash that mods have to eat from the users who enjoy the areas they make possible. I would have said fuck you all and nuked this place long ago for harboring the scum that you have, but it is not my place. I do enjoy the atmosphere and some of the people who frequent the establishment.

We do not know each other, so can I introduce myself so the poor guy doesn't have to dig through the archives?

Not for nothing, this place does have a history of some radical racist scum, and some of them may come back. I remember you guys mentioning something about a Ted creature, but it escapes me what type of mention it was. So @Sherlock Holmes you seem to have been remembered by the people here.

Cool, actually. Pleased to meet you.
My dad was more big iron. He worked in computer security for Citicorp mainframe before moving over to Dunn & Bradstreet. He would go to DEFCON and actually won a fastest hack award once. He got D&B to pay for one of the first residential T1 lines to our house so he could work from home back around 96 or so. And had discussions about the development of HTML standards and data security in the early 1990s. Most all of his online presence has been lost to time but this link https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc2345/
    Still exists.

What I want is individuals punished for their actions, not the whole of society.

What I refuse is to be rendered less able to defend me and mine in a permissive society that paroles violent people and enforcement that doesn't always even show up for robberies.

What I refuse to ignore is the law abiding citizens you sacrifice to the predation of criminal shitbags in your pursuit of the delusion that criminals will obey new gun laws when they have ignored the old ones.

What I refuse is to allow you to hide the sacrifice of individuals in your bullshit "safer overall" language, especially when it's going to be based on the usual "more guns = more gun deaths" rhetoric that ignores the fact that many of those deaths are a GOOD thing.

    Bad faith indeed. :brood:

Your track record of being able to comprehend words is not good. As has been noted, you're all over the place, unwilling to defend your own assertions and interested only in repeating the same screed you've just posted over and over.

This whole "individual versus collective" trope is such bullshit. Any group of people is made up of individuals.

If we're talking about the "sacrifice of individuals", then why do the individuals inconvenienced by gun control matter more than the much larger number of individuals whose lives might be saved by it?

Then surely you agree that what's bad for the individual is bad for the collective. Surely.

They matter exactly the same. The only fair way is to address each individual situation on its own merits, regardless of whether it serves anyone's progressive victimhood social agenda. You want less gun violence? Focus on violent people in violent areas.

Fun fact, it used to be an offer from dentists to women to remove their natural teeth as a wedding gift (to pay for the dowry) and then fit dentures later. One suspects there might have been other outcomes the groom would be interested in in the intervening period.

Again the idea of repealing the 2nd is not only idiotic but also unnecessary.

It isn’t the second itself that is at issue but the way that since Heller it has been interpreted. For two centuries it was understood that the right to bare arms was tied to militia service, not every individual.

The idea that 2nd guarantees pretty much every individual regardless of militia service access to all the weapons a militia member would need is only fifteen years old.

We can go back. Well. Eventually. Gonna take a while with this current court that has a majority of members appointed by presidents who lost the popular vote.

That’s literally what it did dipshit.

District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), is a landmark decision of the Supreme Court of the United States. It ruled that the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects an individual's right to keep and bear arms—unconnected with service in a militiafor traditionally lawful purposes such as self-defensewithin the home, and that the District of Columbia's handgun ban and requirement that lawfully owned rifles and shotguns be kept "unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock" violated this guarantee.[1]

Seize all guns, replace them with compulsory bottom surgery.
Transes can buy a gun, and get free government transing.
Rednecks get to have no pee-pee and cry.
    Everyone's happy.
    But the rednecks.
    But they aren't people.

Slight modification, since if I read your proposal correctly trans folk buy the gun, get free surgery AND the gun is confiscated.

Let them keep the gun, they just have to lose the dick.

Now, you have a bunch of armed trans folk (who got their surgery).

AND when the rednecks complain about the "a gun is just a compensation for a small dick" argument, well - they can now disprove it. Only they won't.
