    Give me a fucking break.

You...who only slither back here when you have some "cause" to push or "grand internet revolution" to start. The only time you even bother to be here until recently was when the place was exploding over some stupidity.

You don't know shit, the only reason my name has been on any drama in the last year or so is because people put it there, even when I am not even online to have been any part of it.

I haven't said anything because I don't give a fuck. I don't give a fuck because this is some of the most ridiculous and retarded bullshit to fight about in the last five fucking years and I think that everyone with any part in it is acting like a five year old child. Getting worked up over spam and then getting worked up over rep...I don't know how any of you stand it and can work up the needed energy for something so incredibly stupid. Spending time negging people and bumping old threads...you people should feel foolish that this is how you choose to spend the valuable moments of your life.

Favoritism and vendettas? Really? Where and when? Five years ago? Meka was 2005 and we worked it out ourselves and was over it before the thread was finished...it was you people who couldn't let it go and still can't. Pecking orders...I don't even fucking know what that is around here any more, nor do I care. It's amazing the things that get attributed to me and what people think I think and feel. :jayzus:

The Red Room is pretty much an free-for-all aside from a couple of rules. If you can't handle it...get the fuck out and stay in the moderated forums. It's called a choice...yours. You people wanted to handle shit like this yourselves...well..handle it. It's been said over and over that you all are adults and can police yourselves just fine....well...do it.

For once you are right Mikey! :tactfulsilence:

I see a lot of rep whining from people who are afraid of getting neg repped when they bump Starguard or Baba threads.

BTW, are you one of them?

Seriously? You haven't noticed that we haven't had an explicit spam rule for years (ever?) And you're supposed to be a lawyer?!

You'll have to forgive Scorpy. He'll all sack-of-hammers. He'll never, ever, ever be able to figure out the point.

And you've turned a minor problem into a major one, if unintentionally. There's 11 Starguard and 10 baba threads on the first page of the RR. Usually, there's no more than 4 of each. Now, both those qualify as a spam problem to me... but it wasn't baba and Starguard who put them on the front page. What DO you suggest we do about it?

Personally, I'm inclined to box the bumps (spam doesn't have to be threads, after all; it can be posts), but I don't think that'll last, and frankly, it's more than a little bit of a waste of time in the long run.

And how exactly did Scorp turn the problem into a major one? Did he physically twist Liet's and Steve's arms forcing them to bump all those threads?

Why not do what you did less than 48 hours ago?

Box and warn. Then you're done.

So Liet and Steve just decided one day to start bumping the worst threads of the Red Room?

No question it was an unintended consequence, but a consequence it was.

Who's fault is that, really? The Red Room is a free fire zone, and it's been said that you guys would rather have the membership police themselves. That's been the way it was since the very beginning. And that's what the intention of this whole project was. To 'discourage' others from bumping inane SPAM. And if the mods and admins don't do it, this was the best way it could be done without disrupting the board. (After all, neg reps don't bump threads.) What went wrong are a pair of assholes who decided that they would intentionally be blowhards and ruin the forum for EVERYONE to 'get back' at certain posters whom they've historically hated. They found a cause, and decided to champion it, even if it meant they watch Rome burn because of it.

As for the solution, I'd say threaten Liet and Steve with bannings if they decide to ruin the board for everyone else. A week's vacation to let them cool down from their temper tantrums would do them both a bit of good.

It's actually clever in a way....they are bumping all their threads to make us box them...all Baba's and Starguard's threads are getting boxed and put away despite the fact they were not initially posted at once and all those two can do is watch their threads get bunched up.

The troll in me must bow to the tactic even if the whole brou ha-ha in general is retarded in the extreme.

Done. I'm going to check with Lanzman first, but I think Liet's earned a Baba-style warning for spamming.

Steve, would you like to follow Liet's example?

You've got to admit, the unintended consequence of this has worked out for both sides, who dislike their spam either way. (Unless Liet and Steve actually LIKE seeing Baba threads, which wouldn't really surprise me.)

Either way, at least this is a shitstorm that actually ACCOMPLISHED something.

Technical question: how does the boxing work?

I see that it pulls the bumpers post out of the thread and appears to return the thread to where it was. But what happens if someone posts after them? Does that anchor it or does it pull everything after the bumper?

Yes, yes. We know already. 'TLDR', 'I don't care', 'so what?', 'Doctor, I have this... object stuck in my rectum'...

    We fucking get it.

You're the bitter, whiny, gay jew boy. That's your schtick. Nobody has horned in on your turf while you've been gone.

    Relax.

Wow. You seem more down than usual, Mikey.

What's bumming you out, little buddy?

Did your life partner run off with a manly interior decorator?

Regrettably, I took all the posts after the bump and merged them into one thread, even when they weren't Liet or Steve's. I think this only happened with maybe two posts in one thread, and one in two others, but one of those was Starguard, so no regrets there.

Also unfortunately, the reason about half a dozen Starguard threads of various ages are merged together is because I didn't realize the Move posts command would create a new thread.

Enjoying life and posting on a BBS are mutually exclusive?

Though that would explain the dispositions of certain members...
