I've been catching up on the Justice League Unlimited Series from about two years back.

I know that I haven't kept up with superhero cartoons, but JLU seems to me to be one of the best if not the best cartoons ever.

    Very adult by any standard.

    It has everything.

The League members actually call each other by their REAL names and not just their superhero monikers ( Clark, Bruce, John,Diana, Ray to name just a few).

The ongoing theme of League members becoming increasingly brutal in their methods. Especially Superman.

    Relationships between the League members.
Conflicts between League members. Including knockdown fights.

The growing tension and conflict between the League and the U.S. government.

Lex Luthor actually being a believable and formiable foe.

Little touches. For example when Superman is saving an airliner and his cape blows over his face.

Or Superman and Batman fighting two supervillians while talking about Captain Marvel. Finally Superman says referring to the two villians "What do these guys want anyway?"

Batman's reply "To rule the world. Or rob banks. I can't remember which".

    Every episode impresses me anew.

I must agree. The Justice League cartoon(s) have been amazing to watch. Probably because they're sort of unnoticed, and therefore no network suits are buggering everything up.

    Yeah, pretty much.

The whole DCAU is worth watching.

    Batman: The Animated Series
    Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm
    Batman: Sub Zero
    The New Batman Adventures
    Superman: The Animated Series
    Batman Beyond
    Justice League
    Justice League Unlimited

The continuity is what really impresses me. They moved from show to show without missing a beat.

What no mention of 'Static Shock' ? I think that's officially cannon.

Anyway I can't usually be paid to sit through a Batman cartoon (the new The Batman cartoon was ok) but even I liked Justice League. Although sometimes the continuity was a little too much. If you only catch every other episode (like me) you find yourself wondering who was that? or when did that happen? etc.

Ever find it interesting that JLU made a middle aged, overweight, matronly looking black woman (Waller) have such a huge role in the series?

I think so. Not to disrespect the previous title-holder (Batman:TAS) but the depth of the writing and the great story arc make JLU top notch.

There are so many little bits in every episode. And it's the best characterization of Batman anywhere on film, imo.

I think what makes JLU good is it's not dumbed down for kiddies.

Batman Beyond- blah. Most of the time we saw nothing more than Old and Bitter Bruce making a royal pain out of himself.

I certainly won't argue with anyone who says it's the best. The characters were made as if they were real flesh and blood. I especially liked the so when wonder woman was hitting on Batman... and he blew her off!!

She was a real bad ass on JLU.

Like in Maid of Honor when Diana gets ready to go after Vandal Savage in Kasnia, and Batman warns her that she'll be breaking international treaties or some such. Diana's answer? "When I get my hands on Savage, that's not all I'll be breaking." Which actually got a smile out of Bruce.

I like the fact that virtually all the League superheroes are shown to have real lives outside of their superhero personas.

I remember when Vigilante commented to Vixen about the "jungle planet" being "her kind of place" or something to that effect.

    She said

"What makes you think I know anything about the jungle? I live in a loft in Chelsey"
