That's Notorious RBG to you peasants. And she's said in the past she will not step down as long as Clarence Thomas is on the bench. As Mr. Miyagi said, "Everything in life...balance."
A foolish statement given that it looks like she's in the endgame of her life and her replacement will be just like Clarence Thomas. Not to mention younger.
She said that years ago, but it expresses determination. They may have to carry her out in a body bag, but she ain't giving up easily. Hey, she outlived Scalia.
I would think she might want to consider stepping aside to spend her time with family, but the other justices probably are her family.
For some reason, WF is giving out GFYs to the last post I read in this thread. I haven't given out any.
There is a point where one should take into consideration of who might come after them while serving on SCOTUS. Somewhere in the back of her mind RBG has to understand that by being so stubborn on stepping down she's now going to be replaced by someone whose going to be the exact opposite of everything she stands for. Sure you serve for life but no where does it say you have to serve for life. You can step down at any time.
That would've been the case if she left at any point after Trump's election though. Honestly, I blame Obama more for this than anything because once again he tried the middle-of-the-road bullshit with his court pick that no one on the left was fired up for.
