Dude, you can see a gun in a guys hand. But you are the big time soldier standing behind a barricade with a rifle.

Dang!! Are you really scared like that or is it just plain ole payback time.

You rob my house I kill you.

In GA they're going to give the guy a medal, dude. Better just stay in NY with your attitude. I would have done the exact same thing. You bust into my castle while I'm home, and that's your ass. End of story.

i know you;re making a joke but the family might not just settle for badboy killed by homeowner.

I don't know the law over there. Maybe he over stepped his bounds in shooting the guy. I don;t know. I just know that he didn't have to kill the guy.

How do you know? You're assuming again. Angles, distance, type of gun, did he have it tucked away in his pants or pockets... there are tons of variables out there. Unless the guy was breaking into the place wearing his speedo this is a shoot to kill situation.

My home has been robbed and I would have loved to have caught the mugs but never would my intention be to kill them.

And how would you stop him/them? Especially if it was a "them" situation. We don't all know Tex Fu.

Since I don't own any guns I wouldn't be trying to stop them but if I did I would not shoot to kill through the back door.

If i was in that soldiers position knowing that I already told the police that the perp is in my yard right now, I would try to apprehend the dude. If he did something threatening I would shoot.

    I would not JUST SHOOT!

Sometimes I'm sure killing would be necessary. In this case NO.

He was not in a fight for his life. No family members were being threatened. The guy wasn't even in the house. This was not a life or death situation.

Now if the guy was in his bedroom and then the perp came out of the bathroom...ya know like in Pulp Fiction.....blow his ass away!!

I don't have too much sympathy for the 'victim' here. He was a gun thief, who knows what havoc he would have wreaked with guns at his disposal. Maybe the solider did the people of that town a favour by getting rid of him.
Burglars in the USA have to be dumber than their counterparts elsewhere in the world. I would have thought that gun-crazy America is the last place you'd want to start burgling homes in.

I can certainly understand why thieves are happy to burgle in the UK. Here we don't have guns to ward them off, we are legally barely allowed to defend ourselves against intruders, and if the robber should get hurt in the process of committing a crime, he has almost as much legal protection as the actual victim. All in all it makes the UK a nice place for burglars to make a living in. :jayzus:

But then again your stereo doesn't kill when it's sold to some kid after it's stolen.
So...apprehend the dude? You gonna chase him down? He was a young man...I can't chase down a young man. You're going to give him a chance to shoot you with the weapon he might have behind his back?
Thieves here in Georgia rob you for pocket change! THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK! We have a gazillion armed robberies a week in this town. The soldier lives on the.....economically disenfranchised side of town. It's a nice subdivision, but the general area is ghetto.

So, what would I have done? I wasn't there, but my ideal response would be shouting at the top of my lungs "stop or I'll shoot! Hands up!"
If he didn't raise his hands and stop, he dies. Even if he tries to run, he could be trying to get behind cover to shoot me. And then it could look like I shot him while he ran..now I'm in trouble!
I'd aim "center mass" just like our soldier did. He doesn't cooperate, he dies. Threat eliminated. Fuck wounding him...he'll try to sue you.

Hey, I've got (and most of my buds have) criminals in my family. We all know they take their chances when they commit crimes. If they eat a bullet, too fucking bad. Better them than the robbery victim.

I've been robbed quite a few times. Insurance (or the Army claims office) paid me back, but when they steal guns there's a GOOD CHANCE THEY ARE STILL ARMED!
