I feel like this deserves it's own thread and besides, it's not part of the MCU. I'm going to see it tonight!

I passed on a free pass to it tonight because I'd rather go drinking, but it looks great. Can't wait to see it.

This movie is good, but I accidentally spoiled myself by watching a trailer analysis by someone who obviously nailed the analysis on the head, so be weary. I got a couple of nitpicks, but I'll wait.

ETA: Fox is stepping up its game, Disney should take notice.

Wow, excellent. Brutal as fuck, though.

If this is Jackman's last hurrah, he's going out on a high note.

Quasi-spoilerish stuff to follow (I'll double-wrap any true spoilers, though).

The film is a modern western with some well-incorporated superhero elements. It's almost not a comic book movie and, indeed, the script would not have to change much to take it completely out of the genre.

The best of the Wolverine movies and a damned good movie on its own.

    8/10

Saw Logan today, enjoyed it a great deal. Paladin is right - brutal, bloody, depressing.

It borrows heavily from Children of Men, and the middle section has elements that are reminiscent of Rain Man.

Seems like the standalone Wolverine movies have gotten better and better.

Origins was garbage, The Wolverine was good except for the stupid ending with Silver Samurai, and this one has been getting amazing reviews.

I think the powers were similar because they stole some DNA from said mutants.

I was thinking more that there was a Roberto and a Rictor. A least one of them has to be in the New Mutants movie, and X23 would nicely fill in either Wolfsbane or Feral's role.

I hope they continue with X-23. When I first saw X-24, I thought it was Victor. Personally, I think that would have been more satisfying. Also, I think it would have been better if Charles had made it to eden and died on his death bed knowing X-23 started the new mutants and Logan riding off into the sunset.

    Yeah spoilers.

Why haven't you seen this yet?

Proving Magneto wrong is the overall theme and it's very sad that they undermine that in this movie. I think the movie is well written and well acted and well filmed. I think it deserves an Oscar nomination, it's a damn fine movie, but in the X-Men universe, it's really sad.

That largely depends on the intent behind this movie, which is still somewhat difficult for me to determine at this point.

The chronology of the X-Men franchise is a bit, uh, incoherent.

If you consider the Wolverine movies a single continuity (as I do), then it seems to fit the X3 timeline better than it does the DoFP timeline. The makers of Logan don't disavow X-Men Origins: Wolverine or The Wolverine (in fact, there is at least one reference to the latter: a samurai sword visible in the background in one scene) and do nothing to reinforce DoFP.

Truthfully, if the Wolverine movies are ultimately a different continuity than ANY of the X-Men films, that's fine with me.

I think DoFP negated the original trilogy-probably wiped out at least the first Wolverine movie because 1973 Logan gets captured by Stryker at the end and spends the next decade in the Weapon X program until Apocalypse.
Likewise, we see a post X3 future where the school and mutants are still thriving in 2015, Jean and Scott are alive, etc. Ergo, the events of X3 were averted.
