... is the most overcrowded piece of shit city in the world. I'm not that widely travelled but I doubt there's too many places in the world more crowded than London. I fucking hate it. It seems that half the cunts that live and work here are not even from London. Fucking interlopers just taking up space on public transport, housing, hospitals, shops, the very fucking streets and pavements. I can't even walk down my road without running into a mass of people. And I live in the East End of London. Or more accurately, the arse end of London. Yet there's so many people living here. Why? Why are people attracted to shitholes? The country is not full up as some people say. But London bloody well is. Think it's time to forcibly disperse much of the population of London to more deserted regions of the country... *Yeah I had a shitty, suffocating journey into work this morning on the London Underground, so I want to vent a bit.
Not all of it's a shithole, at least not where I live. But yes, the East is definately a shithole. I'm reasoably well travelled and I can definately say that there are far worse shitholes inside and outside of the UK. Maybe you need to move to South or West London.
I'd be hard pressed to come up with a more accurate description of Los Angeles. Misguided sexuality. Start with the ugly ones. Another problem around here is the constant deluge of tourists clogging our streets, amusement parks*, and beaches. Any suggestions? *If you ever make your way out to Southern California, stop by Knott's Berry Farm. No crowds, great rides and good eats.
Not many tourists visit my dump of a hometown but can't get away from them when going to/leaving work. I work just a few minutes way from St Paul's Cathedral and the number of people that want to visit this medieval monstrosity is unreal. Stop taking pictures and get the fuck outta my way, I'm late for work AGAIN.
I journeyed to work this morning in a personal vehicle I had all to myself. Traffic was pretty light (because I get away with waking up late), and the only distractions were road noise and the old Aerosmith tunes I was listening to.
Meh. London's busy. I try not to use the underground too often (don't need to for work) or get buses in rush hour. It helps.
I've heard that there are more people in London than in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland combined.
I lived there for half a year, and I hated the last five months, much for the same reasons you quote. Normally speaking I like big cities. London isn't a "big city". It's an insane, overcrowded conglomerate of merged suburbs, with a completely non-functional public transportation system, completely screwed up roads, buildings, city planning...
Yes, but you, like many others, come from a rather quiet and uninteresting country, so I can understand how you might feel it overwhelming. Hell, I grew up in Hertfordshire so even for me its pretty hectic. I think the problem with London is that it's whatever you get out of it, in other words if you are making use of the great resturants, nightspots and so on, and are here for a professional career then there's so much to get out of the city. However, if you earn a low wage and don't get to use what the city offers then the place, I can understand, is lacking.
I visited the North-West coast of America this summer, and the East coast last year and I didn't like the insane amount of people there. It really made me appreciate my own part of the world. It's nice to have the great restaurants, nightspots, etc. but if it's taking you more than an hour to go to work and an hour to come back, it's just not worth it. You might go to a great restaurant or a nightclub once or twice a week. But you have to put up with traffic or fighting crowds every single day.
Well, fortunately for me, where I live is reasonably quiet and civilised so I get to get away from it once I leave the office.
I love visiting London, but living there would drive me nuts. Well, more nuts. I also don't get the hate for the tube, rarely had trouble on it - and compared to steaming pile of refried monkey shit we have for public transport in Manchester, it's excellent.
Some free advice? Don't put Mexico City, Beijing, or Mumbai on your travel plan. And I looooooooove London. I'd love to go back and stay a week or two. So much to do and see.
Never had any problems with the tube, if the train was packed i would make sure i'm opposite a cute bird, then when the train lurches i dive face first in to her tits.
Try travelling on the Central Line every weekday from 9.30 to 5.30 and you'll change your opinion of the Underground. To be fair, other than rush hour on the Central Line, the tube network isn't too bad. Certainly beats the buses...
Sounds like Coast Highway in Laguna Beach (a scenic stretch of road hugging California's coast) There is a steady stream of tourists* driving 5 mph (that's -4.2 million kph for our metric friends) through the city. They're easy to spot, one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand pointing out things everyone on board should want to see. *To be fair tourists shouldn't shoulder all the blame, there are plenty of hammer holes who can't flow with traffic regardless of situation.
I'm not getting the problem with the Tube either. It's as good as any other public transport system I've seen.
About to drive back home with no one sitting next to me. Departure and arrival times at the exact moments of my choosing.
