I don't think Gomez is going to make it through the night, he's nearly 17 years old. He stopped eating on Wednesday, and he hasn't drank any water today. He never gave up and was always a fighter, but I think he's been heartbroken since Milton died. Gomez always looked out for Milton, Gomez would go after any dog he thought was playing too rough or might be attacking Milton. He was also a rescue dog just like Milton and if he goes tomorrow morning it will be a month to the day since Milton died.

    Yeah... this really sucks.

It is... he made it through the night. I have no idea how, he was barely moving last night. He's a fighter and doesn't give up. But he's still very weak.

Here's a better pic of him.

I hear you! Our oldest cat is losing weight fast, sleeping 20 hours a day at least, and finding unusual places to get away from everyone and hide. I doubt he'll see the new year in. :shakefist:

That's how Gomez has been for the last 2-3 days, sleeping all the time where ever he happens to be.

I don't know, I have a 16 year old dog who's deaf, half blind, sleeps all day, wanders the house in a daze all night, and she's been going like that for a couple years now. Maybe a slight decline in recent months, but that's it. :marathon:

That's pretty much Gomez, except he stopped eating. He did drink some water this morning.

He definitely misses him, up until 2-3 days ago he would spend 1/2 the night whining and looking for him.

Yeah, mine's still very much into her food, even though most of her teeth are gone.

Yep. My Kita has been a train wreck since we put Jake down last week. Look, I know its hard, but have you considered taking him to the vet?

I have, but he's terrified of the vet's office. Last time he was there, he peed on himself out of fear. But earlier I feed him some canned food with a small spoon and he also drank water from a measuring cup. And he's been sitting up and much more alert for the last 2 hours and he ate a little more as well. I swear this little guy does not give up.

I really feel that Gomez missed Milton, and that he died of a broken heart. He looked for Milton every night and knew where Milton went, and followed him there.

We're putting our cat down this week. I'm calling our trusted longtime vet tomorrow. He falls going down the steps to get outside. He's so weak he can't keep his head up for hours at a time. He drags himself up the steps to get back inside. He can't jump up on his beloved couch - he's like Archie Bunker with his favorite chair. But now he crawls under beds and goes into a stupor all day. He won't eat cat snacks, and he was always the one to snatch the other cat's treats.
He's beyond living a normal life....sad. Time to go. :bergman:

We've never had a pet that long. He's outlived all other pets by far.

Hell, this November will be 3 years gone for Dallie, and I still catch myself planning for Christmas, and Thanksgiving, with her in mind. You have a friend around for 15-20 years, and that absence is glaringly felt. :(

Just got the call from the Pet Memorial where he was cremated, he'll be ready to come home on Tuesday.

    I just broke down again.

I've decided that I'm going to make my own urn for them. It will be a tasteful wooden box, and on it I'm to place a black marble laser etched plaque that I will also make and will have both of their photos and dates of birth and passing. I want to do it this way because they were together for so long and nearly inseparable. And I feel that keeping them together is really the best way to remember them and keep them together.

    I miss them terribly.
