I'm still going with Aliens posing as Iranians using stolen passports so they could perform epi-pen experiments on the passengers at their leisure. After the experiments conclude they will feed the bodies to Otters.
The article I read said that the airline did not subscribe to the software package required to use the service.
For those wondering about the Malaysian response: http://seattletimes.com/html/nationworld/2023115819_malaysiangovernmentxml.html
It's weird for hours yesterday you basically had the US saying one thing and the Malaysians denying it. America: The plane flew on for hours after its last communication, based on pings from the ACARS system. Malaysia: Bullshit. Something odd's afoot.
East Asian cultures tend to be very "face" oriented, and the boss takes on a paternal role, with those below him tending not to question him publicly. This leads to a very linear top-down command structure. The guy who was aware of the signal didn't dare point out that the guy above him was an idiot, much less go over his head.
Another article said that even though they didn't subscribe to the service, the hardware still transmits to satellites. It wasn't clear if real data was being transmitted or just "keep alive" pings
Yeah, the guy in charge of the situation is the cousin of the current Prime Minister, nephew of the countries 2nd PM, and son their 3rd Prime Minister. In other words, he's not in charge b/c he's the best and brightest. 'Heck of a job, Hussein!'
Some cultures just aren't used to giving straight answers - they have a different mindset/view of the world. I went through this time and time again in Korea. After a while you don't trust them and circumvent them and do things yourself.
New info on the news just now: Malaysian military is reporting that their radar showed the plane ascending from it's planned cruising altitude of 35k feet to 45k feet without permission, then it made that left turn, then descended very suddenly and unevenly to 23k feet before they lost it. Sounds to me like either loss of control (plane rises to its max alt on its own, then stalls and falls), or a struggle for control between good guys and bad guys. Another theory being floated seriously: air piracy. But no one has demanded ransom yet. Me, I'm betting the answer is going to be more mundane.
Yep. Most cultures in the Middle East are very big on never admitting they don't know something or can't do something. So they'll just lie to your face. Once you recognize this its fairly simple to work around. Instead of 'Can you answer this question?' Which if they don't have the answer they'll just make something up you ask 'Can you tell me who I can talk to that can answer this question?' If they know the answer to the question themselves, they get to give you what you want, if they don't know the answer, they get to pass you on to someone who might, which is giving you what you want. Subtle difference and stupid to Westerners (stupid in general if you ask ms) but important to know if you actually want to get answers. I don't know if Malays are this way, but being Muslem they will have Arabian cultural influences.
Not to sound like a Negative Nelly, but let's consider these factors when it comes to getting straight answers: 1. Asian 2. Muslim A deadly combination to the "let's get to the bottom of this" fans.
There was a Muslim co-pilot? That would actually make sense, since Malaysia is a Muslim country. The only two people sneaking on were Iranian, but one was on his way to visit his mother or something. The plot thickens......
And now it turns out the hijackers were pirates, intent on plunder and profit. They have listed the plane for sale on Craigslist. I think I would have gone with e-bay.
FUCK! I think I just got outbid AGAIN! Someone always waits until the last second and I lose out. I'm going with "buy now" from now on. Regardless, just because Malaysia says it has no credence IMO. They can't even run an airport, let alone a complicated investigation after the fact. The bird was hijacked, and crashed enroute to X nation or possibly arrived safely. Suicide not likely, or they would have done it sooner into the flight - unless they waited for the passengers to settle down and relax before springing their trap. That said, this screams INSIDE JOB considering the stolen passports. How do you think that segment of the investigation is going, considering the following: 1. Asian 2. Muslim Not quite the perfect storm of stonewalling, but close. Passengers' family members are truly fucked.
It's a scam. Sure, they say they're selling it for $15 million, but they don't tell you about the shipping and handling...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world...7397d6-abff-11e3-af5f-4c56b834c4bf_print.html Missing airliner may have flown on for 7 hours Given the article I'd say it's pretty much a hijacking. The problem is where the plane went? Did it run out of fuel and crash or did it land somewhere?
This whole thing is beginning to remind me of this science fiction novel from the '80s. Maybe that's what happened, aliens kidnapped them and took them to Pluto!
Maybe that's what happened, aliens kidnapped them and took them to Pluto! - Tuckerfan I knew it! That's always been my biggest fear whenever I fly.
