Talk about shooting the messenger - homes all over aren't selling for what people wish they would. That's the risk you take...hate to be hard but investment/housing is a game, not worth killing over.
I remember after Katrina in New Orleans when I heard about the first insurance adjustor getting shot. The Blackwater guys guarding Small Business Administration Loan office in the Walmart Parking Lot in St. Bernard Parish started taking turns going out with different agents, because Blackwater got a good contract to protect them. Man, those blackwater guys are kickass.
Exactly! At the age of 73 this dude was old enough to have been born at the tail end of the depression and should have known better. Now he has destroyed a life and will wind up dying in prison. So quick question...how are seniors treated in prison? Are they given deference due to their age or do they wind up getting raped as par for the course?
They will most likely be housed in a different area from other inmates. Usually sex criminals, former law enforcement and old people are housed together. You can't mix those types into regular inmate populations. In the jail were I work anyone over 55 is segregated from everyone else.
I work in a jail not a prison. Same types of criminal scum but huge differences between the two systems.
Am I right to make the following assumptions about your job (please correct me, as I'm curious) 1. Fewer HARD criminals as a percentage - less danger 2. More direct prison interaction - more danger
Wrong. All criminals go through jail first. We also have state inmates come back to jail so they can go through various court appeals and such. Since we work in a jail everyone is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. Therefore there are lots of things we can't do that a prison can do. For example we have people come in with "rasta" type hair styles. You can hide anything in their hair. We can't cut their hair. In prison however as soon as they step in the building they get their heads shaved clean. (and if they need to they will hold your ass down and forcefully cut it off) In prison you don't need to file a report for every use of force. If an inmate acts up you can beat the shit out of him (within reason of course). In jail we've got reams of paperwork to fill out. In terms of danger jail is like prison except there are more officers per inmate then in a prison and our hands are tied up on certain issues. They are both dangerous jobs.
When a person is arrested, they are taken to jail. When a person is sentenced, they are taken to prison. Not everyone who ends up in jail goes to prison, but, I'm pretty certain everyone in prison started their incarceration in a jail. Ooops, sorry. didn't see Zombie's post.
oh, well, that makes sense. I, obviously, didn't put much more thought into it than just a rudimentary overview.
