In order to reform Islam you have to claim that god is wrong and that his commands are illegitimate thus why reform is not possible in any fundamental way. Islam itself is flawed and evil and cannot be reformed thus why it has never been reformed.

I am willing to bet I know far more about history than you do plus I clearly know far more about Islam and why its fundamental beliefs are incompatible with any civilized society.

That Islam is the religion acting up now is why we have to deal with it now.
That Christianity slaughtered unbelievers and heretics like termites in the past was horrific and despicable, but is a pointlessly irrelevant deflection to any discussion of today's problem.

The problem is there is a fear of enforcing laws in some situations, there are also difficult to prosecute situations.

Example 1 - block voting. In some areas (hello Bradford!) the patriarch will decide who the family votes for, and gainsaying is generally not good for the health.
Example 2 - family pressure to conform to non-Western ways, usually with implicit threats (we have issues with honour attacks) in order to force submission.
Example 3 - neolithic attitudes to women. Entire demographic age ranges disappear in order to 'protect' their honour.

None of those are especially easy to prosecute, especially as it means a family member having to report one or more members of their own family and facing a raft of repercussions, from alienation and rejection by the family to actual assault.

Those are just a few issues.

In an ideal world there would be some mutual recognition that we are obligated to respect their religious observations, and they are obliged to respect our freedoms and extend them to members of their own religion regardless of gender, orientation or desire to remain/leave that religion.

A human has to get in between God and the sheep.
Get progressive clergy reprogramming the next generation, reform happens.
How it happened with Christians.
Not like we haven't seen it before.

It's relevant to properly diagnosing what the problem actually is.
"Islam is this special form of evil that we've never seen before, and is peculiar to this foul mongrel race", is not just factually wrong, it's unhelpful.
Understanding it's a problem of all religion, and using history to crack the psychology of religion to try to hack and disarm the mind-virus, yes, that is helpful.

Okay, this is bollocks. Demographics alone tell you that Muslims will be a minority in Europe for years to come.

One possible issue are that some of the enclaves are no-go areas for the police and it is politically inconvenient to enforce it - the sexual abuse in Rotherham being an example - any party should be ashamed of soliciting votes in such a manner, that it's usually Labour, who like to pretend they exist on some moral high ground, just makes it more irritating. At some point this will result in violence.

Another example was an MP praising a local mosque's tackling of prostitution - the fact is was achieved via bullying and threats of violence, and so making Muslim vigilantism apparently politically tolerable, also raises the prospect of the majority kicking back.

These are political issues, and yes, we need to grow enough of a spine to enforce the law and make it abundantly clear that if they wish to continue in such a manner they'll have to go find another country to do so.

There is nothing wrong in tolerating Islam, however there is plenty wrong in tolerating it having a choice of obeying the law.

I don't have much of an issue with Sharia being used in civil law - UK law has long allowed for alternative methods (the Jewish do much the same), just so long as it isn't involved in criminal law.

The bomber's family knew all about it before the bombing attack yet did nothing. The father and older brother even fled to Libya after lying and claiming the bomber was innocent but that the UK deserved it for fighting ISIS.

What you are proposing to a Muslim is this: Give up your entire belief system or get out. It's an ultimatum. Ultimatums seldom work with people, especially ones that can only be perceived as a demand to sacrifice the essence of who and what one is.

You cannot tolerate Islam because those that adhere to it will never tolerate you. You guys can keep trying to be high and noble all you want. The only thing you will get in return is more of your countrymen in body bags.

Of course they are. If we go down the road of restricting the classification "Muslim" to what either you or ISIS considers to be the "correct" interpretation of Islam, then we exclude a large proportion who self-identify in that way and we commit the "no true scotsman" fallacy. All Muslims are indeed barbarians if you're determined to define the term in that way.

How does that follow? @Ebeneezer Goode has made some good points, and I agree with much of his analysis about multiculturalism, including that the host culture can't "devour" immigrant cultures.

Yes, and what he has mentioned would be completely illegal in the US for obvious reason of constitutionality. I honestly would like to see the same approach in the UK.
