Close, pot is with heroin, LSD, x, peyote and methaqualone. As sch 1. Above Coke, meth, oxycodone and so on. Dispicable.
Jon Stewart spent the first half of last night's Daily Show ripping into the insane arguments against Colorado's legalization. Seriously, Bill O'Reilly somehow conflates smoking weed with teenagers texting, and this all leading to the destruction of 'Merkin values.
The momentum continues to...grow. It's not legalization like it should be, but it's a big step and one I didn't think I'd ever see.
And from Texas of all places...pretty soon they'll be unbanning gay marriage and teaching sex ed in school!
Nah, Perry's hoping if its more widely used, people won't think anything of him being hopped up on pain meds.
Anna, let's not get crazy here! Even if pot is okay, abstinence is the only acceptable sex ed program. I used to be satisfied with decriminalization. But then I realized that it hadn't changed my behavior one bit. Sure, I worry less about being arrested, but my occasional partaking is still pretty hush hush. Gray market is still elicit, and now that there are some states with overt legalization, and more on the way, I no longer accept the Massachusetts policy. It was a good first step, but now it's time to go full bore and end prohibition.
I'm gonna be optimistic and give it only 8 more years. I'll also go with Mississippi as being the last holdout.
Legalize it and tax it then make the cops actually spend their time solving or preventing real crimes instead of spending all their time trying to seize people's cars and homes for having a few weed plants growing.
Do you alsoweep for those who imbibe alcohol? Just wondering... 'Cause I honestly don't see the difference. Except of courseoneis legal (again) and one isn't (yet).
States most likely to legalize pot next. Nearly half the US could see a relaxation in pot laws before 2020!
I still think it's bullshit. What doctor of the medical profession is going to say " I recommend you suck the smoke off this burning weed into your lungs" ?
Most non-violent weed offenders (assuming they are caught with small amounts and not 150 plants in their garden) do a short time in the county lockup then pay a hefty fine and have a misdemeanor drug offense on their record. Bad enough no doubt, but rarely prison time. Many violent long term prison inmates also use a variety of drugs (weed included) which of course is additional ammo to keep them incarcerated. But they would be locked up from their own criminal activities (theft, assault, rape, etc) even if weed was not a factor. Anyway, I think Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina will legalize weed when hell freezes over - for the fifth time or so. Those constant weed arrests in my county are a big revenue-generator for the entire Justice Circus. The money stays local - so cops, lawyers, jailers, parole agencies, etc. stand to make a ton of money if any one person gets arrested every now and then for weed. Send them to actual prison for several years and they can't generate local revenue.
Alabama has a $10K minimum fine for selling dildos, for fuck's sake. Big Tobacco is certainly in trouble.
Well, just watch their precious revenue drain away when the potheads evacuate the Prison Industrial states for the weed states. I'll laugh out loud when it happens. Hell, its already starting to happen with just Colorado.
What kind of doctor prescribes chemotherapy? That shit poisons your whole body! What doctor would recommend dialysis? That shit destroys your heart and makes you miserable. There are plenty of medical treatments and drugs with unpleasant downsides. The risk/reward is weighed and if what MJ offers in relief is worth the risk then lots of doctors will be recommending it. Don't be stupid. Kind of weird how against it you are considering how much you love the booze. It's essentially the same thing....I mean, why do you swill that down when you know booze can destroy your liver?
Yeah, but don't be stupid. You know that this is going to be for everyone. "Medicinal" is just an excuse. For medical they could give it in pill form or an inhaler with just the chemical that make people high in it.
So fucking what if it is? What makes you as a fuctional alcoholic any better than the pot smokers you look down upon?
Minnesota just legalized it medicinally but you can't smoke it. The counterargument is that we don't yet know how all the different compounds in the raw form interact.
...then how do ya get it into ya? Only other way is edibles, and if you can't eat, cuz of nausea...um...yeah. Wait, does a vaporizer count as smoke?
