Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 2 & 3 thread.

Doom would be awesome and I'm not that big of a fan.

Well I am that big of a fan, and it bothers me that with three big-screen Fantastic Four movies to date, Doom has been done wrong in each one of them.

Never a Marvel-ite as a kid, but I did ironically have a Dr Doom figure bought for me as a child and I must admit I have always wondered why the Doom in these movies doesn't look remotely the same.

Not just the look but the entire conception of the character. Doom's story is rich and textured: gypsy boy, saw his mother and father killed by the tyrannical ruler of Latveria. He vowed revenge, discovered his mother was a witch, and went on to immerse himself in both magic and science. Wound up studying at a US college where he met RIIIIICHAAAAAAAAARDS!! and established the lifelong hatred/rivalry between them. Conducted a "forbidden" experiment to contact/rescue his mother's spirit from Marvel's Hell analog which quite literally blew up in his face, scarring him. Blamed RIIIIICHAAAAAAAAARDS!! for his failure, cementing the hatred/rivalry thing. Then wandered the world in search of arcane knowledge until he found some monks in Tibet who taught him magic until he became their master. He forged the Doctor Doom armor, returned to Latveria and took it over, and there we are.

It's a phenomenal story with huge cinematic potential, and yet the movies turn him into some kind of science nerd/evil executive with electrical powers. Rubbish.

Not only that, but they got his name wrong in all three movies.

Similar to the one on Marvels' scores...

FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer would have been a much better movie if they never bothered to include Doom. Not that I have anything against the character, but he didn't need to be in that film at all, at least as the movie was written.

And now that I think about it, the number should be 4 big screen movies, if you include the Roger Corman version.



(Yes, I know it never officially hit the big screen, but Corman made it thinking that it would, so fuck you, and your nitpicking bullshit. They were aiming for a big screen release, and didn't know they were getting assraped by the studio. So it still counts.)

David Leitch (John Wick), will direct Deadpool 2.

I didn't see John Wick, but I heard it was good.

Pretty good news. Leitch's sensibilities for action/violence certainly fit Deadpool.

John Wick--or, as I call it, Headshot: The Movie--is actually pretty good.

That's called a "teaser". If you didn't feel teased, well, move right along then.

Teasers generally contain more content than that.

Why not just release a full trailer in the first place?

Cuz why wait to see what Spider-Man looks like if Marvel wants you to see it?

At some point you're going to have to grow up and not expect other people to hold your hand through life.

No they don't. This one is actually a little too "full" to even count as a proper teaser.

Lately, people have started the unfortunate habit of labeling full trailers as "teaser" trailers.

Historically, teaser trailers rarely had more to them then a snippet of music and a logo reveal.

At some point you need to do your wife a favor and kill yourself.

Except we've moved beyond that point. I don't get why they release a teaser if they're going to release a full trailer tomorrow?

So, Chris Christie has been reduced to being Tony Stark's errand boy?
