For all you lovers of animals... (Thankfully, I don't feed my dog any of this stuff) http://www.menufoods.com/recall/ http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2007/NEW01590.html
Purina appears to be safe, along with Friskies and Whiskas (which we feed our cats). This appears to be the guys who make the Wal-Mart cheapo type of foods...and also Iams. Their website has a complete list of affected foods: http://www.menufoods.com/recall
Purina makes half of Walmarts el'cheapo food, looks like Iams must make the other half. Edit: Actualy after reading the press statements, i'd say that Purina makes Walmart's dry food, and this Menu Foods must make their wet food. I know it was just the wet food that was recalled, and even then it was just the packets, and not the cans.
Smokey gets Purina Cat Chow. The only time he gets wet stuff is when I get a free sample in his bag, or if I pick up a few cans of Friskies that is on sale. Oddly enough, he prefers dry food.
I give the girls some moist food on special occaisions, Christmas, Thanksgiving, my birthday, stuff like that. In fact, they got a couple of cans last week. Not worried, I bought them at like Christmas time or so.
You may want to double check, because the affected food was manufactured between December 3, 2006 and March 6, 2007. ...Though you should be okay since so much time has passed and your girls aren't showing any symptoms.
I posted something about this last week, but it begs the point: how can you screw up dog food? This isn't exactly exotic Asian cuisine.
