I could not care less if a MCU (or other) movie fails to make money except in so far as it might prevent good movies from being made just because studios are less willing to go for a property that is deemed to be financially risky. Pretty sure that I'll have enough entertainment options available to me if they never make The Marvels 3 or Eternals 2, and I can always go back to the MCU (or other) movies that I immensely enjoy like Cap 2, Black Panther, Iron Man etc. and see them for another time. The difference between me and CHUDs is there are enough real-world outrages for me to concern myself with to get particularly moved about the success or failure of a piece of entertainment.
James Gunn said something in the commentary for "Super" that I hold to. "If one person on Earth likes this movie, I made it for them, and my job is done". That is the artist's job. Let the accountants get the ulcers over the rest of it. All the "haha! The movie I like made more than the movie you like! That means I'm better than you!" stuff is sports fan superstition. Leave it to CHUDs to be superstitious sports fans. But, again, anything that makes them sad is a giggle too.
This is the more interesting story from your link: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Should Have Been Out This Weekend
Julia Garner is Silver Surfer for MCU Fantastic Four. They're doing an Elsewords flip that Shalla-Bal becomes Surfer. https://www.darkhorizons.com/julia-garner-is-silver-surfer-in-fantastic-4/
Currently reading a book about failed sci-fi movies and there's a whole chapter on trying to get a Silver Surfer movie off the ground. The book is a bit dated, but the biggest challenge with Silver Surfer at the time was, of course, the lack of VFX capable of bringing the character to screen. That problem doesn't really exits in 2024 but I wonder how much of Julia will be "live" and how much will be CGI.
Curious! How many folks here suffered throu saw madam web before SONY plucked it from movie theaters?
Aaaand here's the test footage from 1992. This was referenced in the book I mentioned. Some students at USC were hired by Sony to see if they could bring the Silver Surfer to life.
Given how things have been going for the Marvel films, might it not have been wiser to stick to Norrin Radd? When you've had to pivot your overarching villain, your recent films, even if they've been decent, have underperformed, maybe not fucking about with the sex/gender of Surfer would be a smashing idea? I appreciate that in comic lore Galactus' heralds have been a 90% sausage fest, but he had Nova if you want a female herald, and its not like you can't have a strong Shalla-Bal either, one of the oldest tropes is love causing someone to flip sides. And you don't even need to write it like it is 1960 where you've an agency-free, eyelid-batting, pretty face doing the flipping, Hollywood has female writers these days who can help provide a strong, rounded character, memorable for more than good looks and big tits. I'm not against sex/gender swapping in many cases, but when you're trying to right the ship, that's probably the time to revert to more conservative choices in character and casting choices, and when things are back on track, start taking less conservative choices and risks again.
Any FF movie could use another female character to balance things out. Even without Norrin, Sue's the only powered girl in the film among three good guys and likely Doom as the villain if Galactus isn't in it. Now granted, Sue is easily the most powerful of the Four if they use her forcefields properly, but it's still the same bratwurst banquet you allude to above.
Bring in She Hulk, she's been a previous member, and have Ben needing a rescuing. If you've a Doom B-plot, bring in Morgan Le Fey. Lots of options without rolling the dice on Surfer swap, even given that the entire F4 friend and enemy roster is a big Y chromosome party. IIRC Perlmutter - man who decided no one wanted Black Widow toys because wimmin innit - was part of the ouster attempt, I can't see him going away. Sometimes you change your route to where you want to go to account for the landscape, or you can go charge forth and maybe find a hill to die on.
Fuck me, if you think gender-swapping a character most folk don't even know the real name of has gotten the UAs riled up, fucking imagine bringing in Shulkie after their whining about her series AND having Ben "emasculated" by needing to be saved by her...
I didn’t enjoy The Eternal or the last Ant Man movie but I stand by The Marvels as a pretty good MCU flick. Im somewhat sure you made your mind up about it before you ever saw it and skipped it so I hope no one takes your “opinion” on it too seriously.

It seems to me it's another Amber Turd situation where the girlfriend was the aggressor and was being aggressive so he shoved her out of the car. That being said, I still think they need to rework the Kang Dynasty and Galacticus would be the best way to try and get people exited.
