[yt="Party In THe USA"]M11SvDtPBhA[/yt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M11SvDtPBhA I heard Rolling Stone has a blurb on it this month and they said it was catchy. There seems to be a lot of US flags in it. A good thing, if you want to teach little girls to be patriotic and be proud of their country. But she also dresses like a little slut in it, a bad thing, if your daughter wants to grow up to be just like Miley Cyrus. She is, after all, only 16 (I think?). Not a problem in Canada, but in the USA, a problem. Anyways, what do you think of it? P.S. Go to the link, watch it in HD.
I thought I'd hate it, but, y'know...it's not too bad. And though she's dressed in shorts and boots, she doesn't do anything terribly provocative.
Dude. She's wearing shorts and a top that doesn't have shoulders, and she's somewhere that looks really warm. If you see that and think "she's dressed like a slut," then you either know some strangely conservative sluts, or you have a skewed image of how women should look and dress.
That's an awful, awful, awful electronic screechy sound, and not just because the speakers on the computer I'm using suck. Did she sing at all or was the whole thing computer synthesized? Made my ears bleed. As for the video? Meh.
Going from the snippet of the song I heard earlier today, she seems to have jumped on the "Let's overuse the shit out of Auto-Tune" bandwagon.
Dude, she wasn't humping the pole, she was holding on to it so she wouldn't get bumped off of the cart. Still, that was a stupid bit of business though. As for this song, I kind of like it, but Carly Simon and Linda Ronstadt don't need to look over their shoulders just yet.
Nice to see some old American iron in the video. If the Big Three would hire the director of that video to do their commercials, they might have a shot at sticking around. (Hopefully he could convince them they need to start building cars which look as good as the old ones.)
Hmm, let's see, Disney child star releases an overproduced 'catchy' video in which she's dressed in a manner that probably embarrasses everyone at Disney. If past results indicate future performance, it'll only be a few years now before the paparazzi starts taking pictures of her crotch as she gets out of limos, followed by a break from sanity where she shaves her head and becomes the least-responsible parent of two kids, a remarkable feat considering that she too will probably marry K-Fed.
This. Also, are they letting the unions run the companies into the ground like before? I think those car companies have a lot of value, but how much do unions have to do with buyers saying "fuck this shit".?
I won't speak to that, but Miley and her dad Billy Ray seem like they'd be a lot more fun to have as neighbors or to hang out / go to a cook out with than Britney & her folks.
[Dan Leach] I'm glad that I neither know, nor care, who you're talking about! *mince* *mince* [/Dan Leach]
Oh, c'mon. Her dad probably signed her up for the pole-dancing lessons. This video's OK, though. She's never been a great singer but it's just another piece of pop fluff and at that it's not awful.
^ A grown woman wearing short-shorts is one thing. A little girl barely older than my daughter wearing them is quite another.
THERE'S the reason I believe you're uncomfortable with it. I think a lot of dads do this. Back when you were 17/18 you were checking out the chicks, but when your daughter starts to get that age, men are just out for one thing and "why can't girls dress a little more conservatively, by gum!?" J.
Ever thought, at some point, your daughter will be older than Daisy Duke? How you gonna feel when she's that age and dressing like that??? (Not being a crazy feminist here, just seeing if I can get inside your head and ruin your perving for you )
Yea, it's a little catchy I suppose in a bubble gum kind of way. It's patriotic backdrop is to be expected from their camp and I say it's fine and dandy to make it a part of their message. Her mode of dress isn't really that provacative, it's what girls wear say at the beach or at the lake over their swimsuits. She can pull it off..., I mean in a doable sense..., I mean she has the figure to sell it,.., gah, I give up. Yea, I found myself yelling at them to get off the fucking hood of that '68 pickup!
No, not out of order at all. Both she and her father are big patriots, troop supporters, you know, that's all I'm saying.
Sorry to get back so late to this... But yeah, my daughter will eventually be a grown woman and dad will have to get used to the idea that she's doing the wild thing with some punk that I should've shot when I had the chance. Still, though, it's not that much different than knowing your parents are/were sexual creatures as well. (After my father died I found Viagra in his medicine cabinet - lol) But it really is different as a parent of a tween girl who watches people like Miley Cyrus. And, yes, my daughter and I have had *that* talk and I think she was really taking it to heart.
Good call. I do think they are in that camp as well. But even if they weren't, from a cynical POV, throwing in some patriotic elements makes it all more acceptable.
