When I hover my cursor over the top of thread titles the text of the first post is displayed. My bitch is that this happens even when the post itself is covered with spoiler tags. Thanks to this problem my season of the Sopranos has just been ruined for me. Any way of sorting it out?
Two things, first, don't hover over a thread that could potentially ruin an entire season for you. Second, quoting the first post in a thread prevents any preview of the thread. There's nothing wrong with asking members to quote possible spoilers in the first post of a thread.
Nah, quoting doesn't even work any more. That trick got broken a couple upgrades ago. Only thing that really works, is posting a bunch of periods, then putting the info in the second post.
! Okay, I'm on board with killing the hover feature for spoiled posts. But It really isn't that big a deal.
What bullshit. So since someone is too lazy to adjust his habits everyone has to suffer? Put it back. I use it to save time going into something that is sure to turn shitfest, among other topics I'd just ass soon weed out of my time.
OMG, yet another imperious stomping on user rights! I'm surprised Nick responded so quickly to my suggestion, but I don't see why it is a big issue either way. Some people like it, some people don't. Somebody is going to be inconvenienced no matter what. Here's the question -- does it fundamentally alter our ability to enjoy the board? No.
Hmm possible solution.... How about making it a user preference?, maybe something you can choose in user CP
Demand? No, you do whatever you want to, I'm not playing into that trap. It's just that within 24 hours, without any reguard to anyone elses use if it you toss it right out. My limited time frame utilizes it. How about someone put ***SPOILERS INSIDE**** in the header? Pah. Like I said, whatever. I use it, others obviously do too. You do whatever you want.
Agreed. I avoided clicking a lot of droolingly stupid shit with that handy feature. Now I gotta click it open, and waste valuable seconds.
Unilaterally deciding something against the majority because of a vocal minority is a bad way to implement policy Nick.
OK, so that's why I haven't been able to hover over threads. I thought Firefox was being stupid. I really like the feature, and I hope it comes back. Hopefully there's a way to make the spoiler tags immune from hovering, though. And as for spoilers, it should be up the person who posts the thread to say there's possible spoilers in the thread, or at least post a bunch of periods and then start with the spoiler discussion. Or at least say what episode is being discussed, in case someone hasn't seen it yet.
I really liked the feature too. Handy for reminding me if I've read a thread already, or to indicate whether or not it's just another stupid parody post.
You know what's kinda funny? Just like this post, the whole Sopranos thread is labeled with the "spoilers" flashing sign - right beside the thread title!
That explains a lot I held my mouse over a thread like "Wtf? why isn't this working?" Jesus Christ. GHEY!
