Playing Monopoly with daughter this afternoon (see BR thread for the horrendous details ) it occurred to me: I can't remember ever playing a game where I wasn't the iron. Daughter always picks the car. OH, on the rare occasions he plays, insists on being the car. Anyone else have a favourite token? edit: daughter is the dog! the dog! I really shouldn't try to post after losing a game while splitting a bottle of wine...
Usually the Hat. I hear tell of a Clone Wars Monopoly with a detailed Grievous figure as one of the pieces, and that would be fun to add to a base Monopoly game.
I don't remember all of the tokens. Somebody list them. But I sure used to play alot when I was a kid.
I remember playing yellow when growing up. We had an old version of Monopoly with colored wooden tokens and wooden houses/hotels.
I liked to be the thimble. Possibly because it was easy to pick up, I dunno. When my brother went into his "Bored now so I'm gonna attack your stuff with my stuff" mode, I'd switch to the iron. Harder to knock over.
Attaching sentimental value to a particular secondary token makes accepting the inferior choice comforting. The car is everyone's first choice.
Specifically because I could get hold of it easier...and because i learned early to give up on the car because whie others are arguing over it you can get your second choice and not be stuck with the thimble or something.
Horse if I could get it. I used to love to play. It would always turn into a fight about money schemes a la the government bailout.
I am always the car. If someone else has already claimed the car, and I can't persuade them to switch, then I am the Thimble.
You know, I read that as "2nd choice is to boot," which reminded me of a very unfortunate incident I had with a Monopoly board as a kid.
Top hat or iron, usually. It's probably been close to 30 years since I played Monopoly. Much to my disappointment, I never saw a game with a battleship game piece in the 70s. I think they brought it back later.
