If Casey Anthony and her family been poor, black, and relatively unattractive, would this case have gotten a single moment's worth of air time?
Between this and those Confederates that got zapped the other day, I'd say God is pissed at the South.
She was convicted of lying to police, all misdemeanors. I think 4 years consecutive was pretty harsh, considering. Lying to a cop? BFD.
Yes harsh, but that's up to the judge, especially if they're dealing OJ. There are those who feel she should have done something.
ummm no..... She was convicted of lying to the police which is not perjury. Each conviction carries a one year sentence max. She's already got three years of jail time and due to her gain time and good behavior in those three years she has earned her way out of serving the fourth year. Her lying in this case had a direct impact on the police investigation.
The statements her attorneys made are not evidence, not the end-all, be-all of logical possibilities, and obviously not necessarily true. If they were, it would end this discussion pretty quickly. It still doesn't change the things discussed earlier. No one knows cause of death or time of death. Without those things, it's hard to be certain if it was an accidental death or murder or manslaughter. And without that certainty, a jury probably shouldn't convict.
When the prosecution can't even answer the question of how the girl died, let alone when or for what motive, starting at murder one was a tremendous over-reach. unintentional manslaughter, or reckless disregard? Either of those would have been a slam dunk. I would have waited to charge myself, it's not like there's a statute of limitations on murder. Casey's parents aren't getting any younger & I'm betting death bed statements / confessions are admissible in Florida.
