Her employer is small, less than 30 people and they don’t provide medical insurance. What they do provide is a cafeteria plan. The owner deposits 300.00 at the beginning each year and the employees can contribute money to the card tax free with each pay check.

I have full medical , dental etc. at my job so we use the cafeteria plan to cover copays, co insurance and patient responsibility. In fact I used it on Wednesday for some dental work.

So my wife gets a call yesterday that effective 4/1 Obamacare has outlawed cafeteria plans if the employer doesn’t offer full medical insurance benefits. So every card was cancelled yesterday. Several employees have contributed large sums of money from their own check to offset medical expenses now the company has to eat it and refund everyone all of the money they have contributed on their next paycheck.

And the kicker is the boss is a giant Obama loving lib whose mad at him now. I was angry to lose this money but I was smugly smiling when I thought of her ranting against a man she was so in love with 6 years ago.

Well it's a small price to pay for fairness and equality. Maybe Michelle can give you radishes out of her Whitehouse garden if you have to spend your food money on health care.

I'm terribly sorry for this. My "like" was not a like that you lost your insurance, but an acknowledgement of your plight.

    Gul is freaking retarded, too.

Assuming you're not simply lying, which is not a valid assumption, your wife never had medical coverage. She had mild subsidies for limited out-of-pocket medical expenses. Now she, and you, can get subsidized health insurance, almost certainly paying less than you were putting into any ridiculous cafeteria plan that offered you next to nothing. Or at least you would be able to if you weren't a fucking retard who flew right by the open-enrollment deadline of the PPACA because you're a fucking retard. Don't worry; you'll have another chance to be insured with the new year. Hopefully you'll overcome your case of utter retardation before then.

In reality, of course, your story is a lie in toto. Your problem is made up, as is your wife. So, in other words, go fuck yourself, take a long walk off a short pier, die in a fire, etc.

My wife's company got notified by Blue Cross/Blue Shield that their plan was now illegal under OCare, and they'd be substituting BC/BS plans that were approved for the new system. Since my wife administers the insurance at her company, she got to see details. Whereas the former plan was the same fee for every employee, the new plan charges on an age scale - young people pay less than older people. She and some of the other older employees are now paying more than they were before under the old plan.

    Yes, and -?

Try buying life insurance at your age as opposed to when you were 30.

This is how insurance works in the Real World.

No wonder you guys are so bewildered.

You know, the left likes to scream how the right is against the little guy. But by making it illegal to offer cafeteria plans, the plans most likely to be offered by really small businesses, they're making it harder to start a company and be competitive because little guys can't compete against larger companies' plans.

It's not a matter of being cheap, it's a matter of a small business being able to afford it.

But in Gul's thinking, little guys shouldn't go into business - if you can't "afford" to hire people who want to work, even if you can come to an agreement between yourselves... well, business is only for the wealthy!

No, it's a matter of Mila's wife's employer being either an ignoramus or a liar: www.obamacarefacts.com/obamacare-smallbusiness.php

He had four years to explore the facts and at least pretend he cared about his employees as well as saving himself some money, but he refused.

That you, as a small business owner, can't or won't see that tells us exactly how you treat your employees.

And I didn't even see this in time to warn you that you'd be told your wife didn't lose her insurance.

^This. Most of the bewilderment comes from people who've never had to make grownup decisions about health insurance before because Daddy Corporation has taken care of them.

Waddaya mean "yes, and?" you smarmy carbunkle? The "affordable care act" required a company to drop their established, perfectly fine insurance plan and substitute a more expensive one. And you go from "Oh this is so much better, you'll be able to find more affordable insurance" to "Yes, And? This is how insurance works in the Real World." :jayzus: They were IN the real world before too, ya know.

Oh, look who's trying to play Tough Guy! :pathead:

Point is, you guys got to cruise along letting Daddy Corporation take care of you, while the rest of us have always had to deal with age-related premiums for health insurance just as with life insurance.

Your sticker shock is a result of not having to be bothered with understanding how the system works.

Here's a splash of cold water for you. In a few years you can get your Gubmint Handout from Medicare, anyway.

"Daddy Corporation" where my wife works is a small family-owned school supply business with about 35 employees that was doing just fine providing its employees with affordable insurance, until the affordable care act came along.

Then I'd be inclined to wonder why she had to get insurance on her own instead of being covered on your plan. I'd also wonder whether either of you had a clue about the fine print about caps and preexisting conditions in her policy, but I already know the answer to that.

Tough call, because for a while the media was stirring up :ohnoes: and boosting the ratings by telling them what they want to hear.

Now that the facts don't fit their belief system, they'll be back to blaming their bewilderment on the media again...
