And most people tend to get set in their ways by the time they reach their 30s, at least in terms of things like the kind of music they enjoy, movies they like, etc. So, if Vlad Polanski became a vampire in, for example, 1909, he's probably not going to be a big fan of that new-fangled (no pun intended) rock and roll stuff. Can't imagine what he'd say about rap, or desegregation or any of the stuff we take for granted these days. (Can't imagine what kind of bitch it'd be to try and teach a 100 year old person how to use a computer.)
