https://www.quantamagazine.org/muon-g-2-experiment-at-fermilab-finds-hint-of-new-particles-20210407/ Too early to guess at the consequences yet, but this is looking like the discovery of new physics beyond the Standard Model, which is huge. Physics is due some kind of shakeup in order to allow us to tackle some of the more stubborn problems of cosmology and quantum mechanics.
I don't even really understand the Standard Model. I don't suppose there's any chance this one will be simpler, is there?
Actually been tracking this story . . . some pretty hefty scientists seem to think it's real, so this might could get interesting.
