Given your determination to set yourself apart from other Americans and be treated as an individual, it's nice that you afford Iraqis the same courtesy and don't making ludicrous, sweeping generalisations about them. Oh, wait...
No you just want to blame the civilized world and bitch that we should "do something" But in typical fashion you don't have fucking clue what that "something" is.
Of course Iraqis are individuals. I'm sure each of them has different taste in the sort of camels he or she likes to fuck, for example, or where to place the inflective emphasis when screaming, "Uh LAAAAAAAHHHHHH WHACKBUTT!"
Yeah, well go back to working on those scripts that you won't sell. Clearly this debate is a strain for you.
This isn't a debate, it's just a circus. Whaddaya, whaddaya! Think we're curin' fuckin' cancer here? Jeez, look at the wacked out priorities on this guy!
No matter what "we" (as in America) do, the ones sitting on the sidelines will mock us for "doing it wrong." The sideline sitters understand them better, but of course don't actually have any skin in the game so won't actually do shit. IMO we as a nation need to run, not walk from this whole situation and let the rest of the world step up to the plate. We aren't the only game in town. If nobody steps up and the region implodes, we as a nation can use our own energy resources if we have the will - can the sideline sitters do the same?
That's what's so great about Chump's position. "You Americain peeg-dogs fucked up zee region whizz yer meddling! Obviously, zee answer is for you to keep meddling!"
The problem here is that you are working from an idealistic standpoint. Not unlike people talking about empowering "moderate" Syrian rebels, which hardly even exist. The world is what it is. The political forces in the world are actual entities that we have to deal with. Not being able to "get in bed with the enemy" on these issues amounts to defeatism.
Homo Neandertalis is too similar to Homo Sapien. Too advanced, too large a brain. I say we go for Australopithecus.
Russia does. Iran does. Syria does. No, you're not the only game in town. Oh, and I basically agree with you.
HA! I love this pic. I'm using it as wallpaper right now. Everybody loves it except my wife, who doesn't get it.
This. Until the rest of the world does more than sit on its ass and bitch I say bring our people back and use all that money to rebuild America. Until the rest of the world puts some skin in the game it's not worth the money nor human sacrifice.
If the Chinese or Iranians put some "skin in the game", then it will be to their own benefit, not to some imagined common benefit, you know.
No shit Sherlock indeed! I don't expect any nation to act like the dude from Kung Fu righting wrongs & occasionally getting his ass kicked for free. You can benefit others & yourself at the same time - it's very much human nature actually.
Americans are kidding themselves if they think any other nation on Earth is going to step up in a big way to help stop the violence in Iraq (and Syria). they are kidding themselves even more if they think that nations that do get involved in some way would act in a way that was beneficial to the United States.
It doesn't bother me if what they do doesn't benefit The United States - they can surely figure out a way to help the helpless and benefit themselves, and if it doesn't harm The United States no big deal IMO.
