As for Robertson, either he's back for the 5th season (his suspension coincides with a non-shooting period), or he goes on to celeb status within a certain subset of Christianity and does very well on the book and lecture circuit.

However, my understanding is that he's an ordained minister, and the show served as a platform for expressing a certain message about living with Christ. If his remarks result in him losing the audience, he might make money preaching to the faithful, but he won't have easy access to potential converts. So in that context, his remarks were pretty stupid.

Excluding those who are simply to young to have them, most people on my Facebook timeline have Bachelor's Degrees. Many have graduate and post-graduate degrees. But, they're howling about "Constitutional Rights." Why? Is the fact that our Constitution only protects us from the government really so little known? A&E is a private company. Whom they hire and fire is their decision. Constitutionally protected rights are wholly and completely invalid in this context.
