Morrowind was better, Ob just looks nicer. Oh and never play Ob vanilla, get the OOO mod and at least 60-70 others before it even approaches the fun of Morrowind
Morrowind had some nice features - non-leveled loot was one of them. I'd begin almost every game by getting to level 3-4 and learning Mark and Recall spells, then raiding the House Redoran treasury. There was a bug where, if you got into the room (it's easy to get the key) and waited 1 hour, the guard would leave. You could then close the door and pick up any of the loot without the guards noticing. There was a nearly full set of glass armour, a lot of ebony and a couple of enchanted weapons and about 1500 gold. Recall back to a safehouse and dump what you can't carry, then visit the Creeper/Mudcrab Merchant to flog what you aren't going to use. Oblivion is better in terms of look, and the main quest doesn't seem so repetitive (seriously, I lost track of the number of times I had to win the trust of the four tribes, unite the four Great Houses, defeat the four...). But I miss the ability to gain good stuff by clever play - with most of the weapons and armour being levelled, you lose out. Of course, if the games didn't reward you for keeping your level low whilst bumping your "non-essential" (read: absolutely essential) skills, that wouldn't be an issue. I don't think I've ever gone beyond level 10, and that's only because I wanted the glitched Sigil Stone for Shock Shield (gives Shock Shield 25% instead of the 15% it should be in the level progression). I also miss Mark and Recall, but fast travel almost compensates. Levitation spells I really miss, but I know why they don't work. And I don't see why they didn't allow you to enchant items with a low-level Restore Health - it's not that much of an advantage.
I'd like to see a game with the engine used in Oblivion set in a semi-futurustic atmosphere. Or maybe a fallout game to look like this.
Much of the oblivion levelling probs are fixed with the OOO (oscuro's oblivion overhaul)mod. It brings back some of the more morrowindy like intelligent play required
Didn't really get into either. Morrowind was downright ugly. Oblivion I played for a short while, but am not a fan of first person RPGs - which 3rd person view is a joke.
I love the game, it's literally endless, I haven't had time to finish Knights of the nine yet. The next best game would be Gothic 3. Set up in raid 0, the game runs as smooth as Oblivion , yet it streams from the HDD.
I was very impressed with Oblivion when it came out, but I've lost interest, and it happened pretty fast. The game world is simply so much smaller than MW's, and the level of freedom involved in the gaming experience is much smaller. It is nice eye-candy, I'll give you that, and many of the quests are very well thought out. Problem is simply there are so few of them.
It's not any kind of an advantage at all compared to the enchantments you still can put on items. 100% chameleon anyone? And if you do level up your character a bit more, you'll find better than you can enchant. 100% reflect damage + 100% magic immunity isn't hard to come by. Equipment balance is way off in Oblivion, as are many other balance issues; the biggest problem with the game is how it requires you to play significantly suboptimally if you want it to be a balanced game. In a well designed game you shouldn't have to avoid obvious and easily achievable game actions to maintain balance. I like Oblivion well enough, but the game balance, which is so crucial to an RPG, is completely out of whack. Oblivion is a good adventure game, but not much of an RPG. Morrowind had similar problems. Both games would be better RPGs with less complex but better balanced character development, magic, and inventory systems.
I don't see whee there is so few quest?????????? Have you done KNights of the nine? or the new one, ( hell, I can't remember the name, I don't have it yet). There's literally 100's or free addons for the game, how can you get board ????? Then again, maybe I'm a bit more easyly amused than others lol
WTF are you talking about? Most RPGs ARE NOT first person, especially on the PC. I've played more PC games than I have console games buddy, and have played them longer than you. I currently use my PC more for gaming than my console. You'd be best off talking about and sticking to subjects you know about. There are probably just as many FPS-like games released for consoles as PCs anymore. Oblivion is boring (to me) and it was an FPS RPG. It was released on consoles at the same time as the PC and I bought it when it was released. Tons of downloadable content has come out for both versions. The game is dull and Morrowind was terrible looking. Give me a top down or 3rd person RPG please, not Elder Scrolls.
It's OK and good eye candy. The expectations I had: nah, didn't fulfill them. I played MW for two years or so, but OB I put away after two months. Didn't even care to get the addons. Might one day, tho
Knights of the Nine added one thing that was sorely missing - a set of magical gear that levels with you. Well, not quite - you have to put the weapons and armour on a display stand and when you retrieve them they're levelled to match your character. They're also not much use if you want enchantments other than those useful to a Holy Crusader type character. Shivering Isles seems to offer more in the way of enchanting options, with different materials for the kit to be made out of, a choice of "matrix" to add effects, etcetera. But I haven't seen fit to splash out that many XBL points on one download yet.
