Well, the deleted scenes were very underwhelming. I feel like their should have been more. I was expecting more Leah. What happened to the scenes that we saw from the trailers? I thought for sure there were scenes with Luke. I guess he really did get paid to do one scene without dialogue. I still love the movie and I know they deliberately left some mysteries for the next episode, but would it kill them to give us something?

The other bonus features are pretty cool, but I'm so sick of JJ saying one thing, then immediately contradicting himself. Ex. "I wanted to make this movie to tell the story of what happened to Luke Skywalker." "I wanted to make this movie to tell the story of a new generation, this movie isn't about Luke Skywalker, but the journey of finding Luke Skywalker." Hey JJ, just say what you mean and be honest, stop dicking us around. We're sick of the, "it's not Khan" "it is Khan" bullshit. Sorry for the rant, but that is the one big issue I have with this movie.

Got my copy on Blu-ray at lunch today.

I'll be spinning that tonight, for sure.

Ordered pizza and watched it with my kids. Still love it, and now that I've also recently re-watched episodes IV and V, I'm now prepared to say that this one is my favorite.

I was cheap and rented it from Redbox. We just finished watching it. I'll probably watch it again after the kiddies go to bed.

I'll probably wait to purchase until the whole trilogy comes out in a box set.

What if Blu-Ray dies by then?
And what about the anthology films? How you gonna handle those?

How much do you spend on cinema tickets vs blu-ray/DVDs & downloads out of interest (in fact, the question goes for anyone reading this post)?

90% of the time I go to see a movie during the day. Hardly anyone there, most of the time I'll (we'll) be the only one(s) in the theater. Not only is it much better that way, but there's also the matinee price too, which is $6.15 or £4.35, if it's a 3D, then another $2, or £1.40.

The blue ray price is 19.99 for this movie, steel case is 27.99. The digital copy is also 19.99, but no features.

If it's a movie with re-watch value I consider a hard copy a better investment.

I too tend to go to movies at the cinema during the day, and that's because I work for myself now so I can choose....but still time is limited so I go to the cinema maybe half a dozen times a year even now, and I haven't seen a movie more than once in the cinema since Phantom Menace. With the high quality, re-watchable mediums now I don't see the point. Hell, my home cinema system, although a very good quality one, is about 7-8 years ago now and still does such a good job that I find I must favour the re-watchable formats for pure value or money. Then there's the fact that movies come out so soon after their cinema release. When I was a kid it was about 6-8 months. Now it's half that.

Watching it again it's really, really apparent how this movie is an almost an exact carbon copy of ANH. It doesn't even try to hide it.

That's not to say it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie to watch again - it was. Just good old fashioned movie fun. Daisy Ridley is pretty damn awesome in this, that held up very well and the nostalgia of the whole thing is nice.

I do hope though that it starts expanding on new ideas and is more original when it comes to the next movie.

I don't watch that many movies in the theater, last year I watched Fast 7, Star Wars, Avengers, Mad Max, The Martian, and Terminator. My home theater is a 65" 4K TV, a PS3 (for Blu Ray and the PS3 is actually one of the best Blu Ray players ever made) along with a 5.1 surround system. As soon as I get around to it, it will be either a Sonos 5.1 or a Marantz 5.1 receiver system.

As for rewatching, some I'll go see again in the theater. But just now for example, I was watching Ant-Man through Kodi and the quality was about 80-85% of what it was when I watched it through Vudu (I had a free rental).

Also watched TFA a few days ago through Kodi, the quality was about 90-95% of HD. It does help that the TV does upscale everything. So at home I can get pretty much the same experience picture and sound quality wise.

Thanks to DC joining the superhero fray, I'm up to 10 unique flicks a year at the theater, that's not counting the really good ones I see 2-4 times.
Then I usually collect those on disk at Christmastime.
Summertime, I get 2-5 cult/horror films on top of that.
    So...it's roughly the same.

It's an app you can install on Fire TV, Android TV's, PC's, Smartphones, and a few other devices. It lets you steam just about anything you can think of in regards to movies or TV shows.

I actually have no interest in the Anthology movies. Between the new trilogy and the Rebels tv show, I think I've reached Star Wars saturation.

Each Star Wars movie used to be a special event, but with the anthology movies it all seems a bit much.

I saw five movies last year. The kings man, Mission Impossible , spectre, the Martian, and Star Wars though I may have seen that in January. Pretty impressive given the kid situation. Two were when I was at work. Two due to a baby sitter. And one on vacation.

As for physical media, aside from gifts, I bought only nothing last year and one (SPECTRE) this year. I have bought several Disney films on Amazon (multiplatform via Disney) for my kids and I partake in unwanted movie codes for dirt cheap from here:

It's still only 1 movie a year. Hardly an overwhelming pace.

When it comes to this genre, I'm not sure there's a difference. But if you want to pretend there is a Dolce Vita of Star Wars, it's possible that ESB still comes out on top. But why would we want to evaluate in that fashion?

Got the Blu-Ray today... it was free, so WTF why not right?

I saw it the theater a couple times, and the Blu-Ray actually looked better on my TV at home than it did in the theater. So that's awesome. I saw more detail here at home than in theater, especially during the dark scenes.

The bonus content wasn't great, it was okay. It could have been better and more in depth, but oh well I guess.

The bonus features were better than the deleted scenes. Something tells me they held some shit back for some kind of later release. Maybe when all three movies are out or some other event. This is Star Wars after all, they're going to make us buy ten different versions of the same movies over the next decade.
