Won again tonight beating Washington 8-0!! This is the best start since the '95 season when they won it all (6-1) just hope they can keep it up.
Go Rangers... historically speaking we have no shot, but I gotta stand by my team. This season started rough, 0-3, but tonight we're about to get back up to 500 and make it 4-4. It's 12-6 going into the 9th against Tampa Bay.
Spotty pitching, very good offense so far. 4-3. About as expected. Can't wait to see Philip Hughes called up.
Here's something I've been wondering about . . . Kenny Loftin played half a season with the Cubs in 2003. Supposedly one of the reasons they didn't keep him around for '04 was that Sammy Sosa didn't like him, and back then Sammy got whatever he wanted. Now they're back together with the Rangers. Any talk of this feud? Any chance of tension between them?
They won again today. 7-2 now. Scott Hairston doubled in Conor Jackson in the bottom of the 11th to win it!
I think they mentioned on SportsCenter that Lofton homered for his tenth team tonight in the Rangers' win!
He's been around the block a few times, that's for sure. But the the teams he plays on always seem to make the playoffs or come really close. He's the Robert Horry of baseball IMO.
About time this thread got started. Polarslam would be very disappointed in the late start. 4-3 5-3 IMO!
Regarding the gyroball, I've heard everything: screwball, forkball, maybe a circle change with a little bit of a funny grip, who knows. I haven't really had much of a chance to watch Matsuzaka pitch yet, but all indications are he's having no trouble adjusting. At some point though, he will have trouble, on the field or off, and that's when we'll see what he's really made of.
Dice-K's Fenway Debut: 7 IP, 8H , 3ER Good enough to win most nights, IMO, but the Mariners' Felix Hernandez pitched a one-hitter!
Usually Shep's the one who does this, but the Jays look strong this year. Tigers, Twins, Jays, Red Sox. Maybe the Yankees if they can pull their heads out of their asses. Don't ask me shit about the National League.
Red Sox pitching currently has the best ERA (2.79) and lowest opponent batting average (.207) in the American League. It's a long season, but this is surely a good sign, IMO!
Dice-K pitched another gem (IMO) but lost. How about this stat: Thirteen games into the season, in Dice-K's 3 starts, the Red Sox have scored an average of only 2 runs per game In the Sox other 10 games, Sox bats have averaged... What's going on?
Mark Buerhle of the White Sox with a no-hitter tonight! The only blemish was a walk to Sammy Sosa. Not really what you'd expect for Mark, but great to see. He's really underrated IMO. He throws strikes, works quickly, and has been remarkably consistent over the last 7 years, even though he struggled last season. He'll get a big contract from somebody next year, and it won't be the White Sox.
damn it damn it damn it... oh well, no hitters are cool even when they're on your team... as long as the game is in the beginning of the season and isn't important yet...
I just keep telling myself that the rotation is really injured right now and the pitching will come around, but I've never been more worried about the Yankees pitching staff than this year. If A-Rod wasn't having the godly start that he is we'd be 3 or 4 games under .500 with how the whole staff has been. Closers typically lose it all at once, so even though it's only been two appearences, gotta start wondering if Mariano has finally hit the wall too. Either way the bullpen has been retardly overworked so far this year and that just has to stop. Wang and Mussina come back next week and hopefully they can finally give the Yankees some innings. On a side note, man did Joe Torre screw that game up Friday. I really didn't understand some of his pitching moves...
You've got nothing to worry about, the Rangers after all just fired Buck Showalter and history has shown that means winning a World Series the next year.
