I discovered the kindle app and overdrive (for our library).

As if the 15 books sitting in my 'to read' pile, yes I have a to read pile, wasn't enough lmao.

Yep. ereaders like Kindle and Nook (and their attendant apps) are going to turn you into a bookworm. Skin, too. The unbelievable convenience of taking gods-know-how-many books with you wherever you go, without the added bulk of physical books, makes reading just plain Gods-damned addictive.

Could be the salvation of our civilization and no kidding and nothing less.

I was addicted BEFORE there was an ereader of any kind. The Nook just saves my back.

I have been a bookworm since Grade 1. I read 30 some odd books a month and the kids and I go through thousands a year. I am an active member of 2 libraries in 2 provinces lol.

My husband is a mean mean man and gently requested that I keep the books in the house to two bookshelves instead of lining every wall of our house (isn't he cruel) so I usually give all my read ones to the local library.

Ebooks aren't my favorite way to read, but they are self gratifying.

And it means that for the first time in 7 years I CAN READ IN BED :D because the nighttime setting doesn't bother my husband while he's sleeping.

    I've missed reading in bed.

I meant to say instant gratification *doh*. I'm only working on an hours sleep because the baby wanted to play all night....my apologies...it made sense at the time...really it did.

If I want to read anything in particular I need to either order it in from the library (because our local library is the school library) or buy it and both takes 3 weeks to get to me. So there is something oddly satisfying about going 'click' on download and there it is! (well until I used up all our datafeed downloading books and we were without internet for a few days anyway)

And I read a lot of erotica (of which half of my free downloads were) so I guess self gratification does make sense too lol (also bought the Ethical Slut because it seemed sort of wrong to order that into a high school library - what if one of the kids got ahold of it)

Yes. They got them last year (which I just discovered I could get on my Iphone) I didn't have the overdrive app before this week (didn't read the brochure, bag over head)
