Ok, so why don't we have a Flash thread yet? (SPOILERS!)

Wouldn't a sonic boom have destroyed glass and similar stuff all around?

Okay, you guys are completely over thinking this. You are trying to apply standard physics situations to a universe in which the Speed Force exists.

It depends upon a number of factors, like if they left the windows cracked in the vehicles, if they were made out of ordinary glass, etc. There's also the issue of what happens to something traveling at near supersonic speeds in a confined space, if you assume that Flash wasn't traveling at supersonic speeds, etc.
What makes me ask the questions is the depth of the writing. A well-written script will take me longer to find the flaws in it than a poorly written one. See the last comment I made in the Interstellar thread for an example of this, when contrasted with my comments about the Star Wars teaser trailer.

Most of your posts seem to be of the variety of "Barry doesn't behave the same way I would." That's not a flaw with the writing, that's just you being autistic.

Sorry, no. I've repeatedly said that the writing of the series has gotten better as the episodes progress. Were I autistic, I'd still be objecting to things at the same rate. I just choose not to overlook the flaws in something because I happen to like it.

Didja notice the padding in Barry's jacket after Arrow shot him the first time? The episode was a bit predictable, but well done. And they did break with the usual pattern to a degree, by not showing the takedown of ol' Red Eyes. And Emily Bett Rickards looks a whoooole lot like my first girlfriend did at that age.

Did they say that the boomerang had "iron oxide" traces on it? That's what it sounded like to me, which is hardly unique, given that its better known as "rust."

    Wouldn't that make him

BTW, there's a photo of said individual in question on a reputable entertainment news site, which discusses the character.

And Iris has been chewing on Detective Douchebag for a year now?

I really enjoy this show, but sometimes the characters get a bad case of Smallvillesque dementia.

Could you become a hero on a DC TV show? Take this simple test to find out.

    (1) You're a police detective. A metahuman has threatened to kill your daughter if you go after him. You are now about to go after him. What do you do?

(1a) Tell my colleagues, tell a judge, and tell every scientist I can find. Make sure to get protection for my daughter.

(1b) Decide not to tell anyone, because X. Given that I'm now working with but three scientists and one other metahuman to catch the bad guy who threatened my daughter in case I tried to catch him, I decide to move my daughter into our secret lab or some other safe place.

(1c) Failing that, I'll make up some other reason to have her protected by a police detail.

(1d) Failing that, I'll have to keep a very close eye on her; whenever we'll know where the bad guy is or what to do about him, I want to make sure she's safe as fast as I can.

(1e) I have her travelling around the whole city, ignorant of any danger, and kind of lose track about where she's going. But I look real worried whenever anyone brings it up.

    (2) One of the people you're keeping all these secrets from is your trusted partner, who is also your daughter's love interest, with your hard-won blessing. He's trying to find out some of your secrets, which are currently threatening your daughter's and his girlfriend's life, and are very likely to get him killed too if he pursues them without preparation.

(2a) So I let him in on this secret that is so far shared by 9 people.

(2b) I can't tell him the secret, because X. So I make up some other information to keep him safe, and alert him about my daughter's need for protection in a general way.

(2c) I decide against that. When he asks me what's going on, I frankly ask him to trust me as he always has; I tell him I can't tell him the truth, but it would really be in everyone's best interest if he stayed off this.

(2d) No, this is just too important a secret to keep, because X. I have to make sure he stays right out of this whole matter completely.

(2e) Actually, I can give just a little bit. I don't tell him any of the important secrets, but I do invite him into the line of fire, in what simultaneously happens to be the abode of all the secrets I'm hiding from him, anyway. But I look real worried about the whole thing.

    (3) You're a meta-human criminal. You have threatened to kill a certain police detective's daughter if he goes after you. He has now decided to go after you. For some reason, his daughter remains completely unprotected.

(3a) I kidnap his daughter; I've now shown I'm serious, and I have the best bargaining chip in the world.

(2b) I kill his daughter; this removes her as a bargaining chip, but it shows I'm willing to make my threat come true, and there are other loved ones to threaten.

(3c) I repeat the threat, with a vengeance.

(3d) I kill the detective, sticking a knife in him like I stuck it into Iris' photo last week.

(3e) I don't do any of the above, but I'm glad that everybody still looks really worried about the whole thing.

    (4) You're back to being the police detective. You've gone after that criminal big time, and you lost -- he got away. Remember he has threatened your daughter?

(4a) Right, so now I really need to get her some protection.

(4b) Right, and I'm filling in her boyfriend, finally, so this is the first thing he has to know, so we can keep her safe.

(4c) Right, I can't tell him that, because X. So I'll get a police detail for her protection, or move her to the secret lab, or keep an eye on her, to protect her as well as I can.

(4d) Right, so I'm actively pursuing any venue I can think of to catch the guy.

(4e) What? He threatened who? Did I forget something? Whatever. Anyway, merry Christmas everyone! You can't win them all, but it's nice to be with the people you love. At least we all have our health.

    (5) You have decided to keep a difficult secret. This means that you cannot get the best protection for your daughter, cannot tell your best allies about a looming danger, cannot free the man you've wrongly imprisoned 15 years ago, and cannot alert the world at large about world-threatening dangers, because X. What is X?

(5a) X is about this super secret plan to save us all, that will only work if it stays secret, for now.

(5b) X is about making sure the Flash's private life is protected. I could only compromise those secrets if a superhuman criminal was already on our most beloved's trial and threatening to kill her.

(5c) X is about a lack of evidence. Who would believe us? It's not as if the police force believed there were people running around at superhuman speed and doing any kind of investigation around that fact.

(5d) X is because I'm just completely overwhelmed by the whole thing, and I don't know whom to trust.

(5e) X is "so nobody else will get hurt". For once, the constant look of worry on my face is replaced by grim determination: At least I know that I am doing this with a firm purpose in mind.

I'm curious as to Wells motivations - the newspaper from the future is pretty much presaging Crisis on Infinite Earths, where Barry dies running up the anti-matter gun, and Wells is trying to avoid that it seems.

I wonder if we'll even see that future in the series, taking a page out of Marvels Days of Future Past.

Something I noticed tonight watching the episode of Arrow with the family of bank robbers (Christ, that episode had more "daddy issues" than a strip club!), the first bank they hold up is the same set as the bank set for Flash. A cost saving measure no doubt, and perfectly plausible if you assume they're owned by the same company, but not something you'd normally see on a TV series.
