He's got 40 women accusing him of either rape, or attempted rape, or some other form of sexual misconduct. All right, let's say they're all part of a conspiracy to tear him down. Walk me through how that's plausible, and what do the conspirators get out of it that justifies the work being put into it? Aaaand, GO!
I'm not being a dick, I'd like it not to be true, and I'm open to alternative explanations, but my brain is hitting a brick wall. Maybe fresh eyes would help.
We don't want it to be true, but the volume of charges forms a pretty strong pattern. Only the heartiest of MRAs can step up to this task.
You know, thinking is thirsty work. Why don't you have something to drink? And maybe you'd like something to eat to help you think better.
Not on WF, but there are people IRL that I know who think it's bunk and that most of them are just jumping on the bandwagon. It fails to take into account that this is far from the first time Cosby's been accused, but it's not going away this time because 1) he's not that influencial anymore and 2) the public is moving away from the seeing rapists as creepy guys that lurk in the shadows.
And by "think he didn't do it" you mean didn't automatically join the lynch mob with the rest of SJWs and automatically assume guilt. I know that whole innocent until proven guilty thing is a nutty idea to some of you.
I agree that there should be a presumption of innocence until proven guilty, but you have to admit that the sheer number of women coming forward is pretty compelling. As is the fact Cosby hasn't filed any kind of a slander or defamation of character suit. And I'm hardly an SJW. ETA: I'm not assuming he's guilty, either, I'm just commenting on what I see, and poking fun as it suits me.
Sad to say, but that much smoke almost certainly means fire. While I can't rule out the possibility that some of these women are exploiting the situation for their own gain, I can't dismiss them all as opportunists.
There are two different things in play here -- one legal, the other a question of opinion. As far as I know, nobody is arguing he should be just thrown in prison without a trial. But whether you think he's guilty or not is separate from the legal question, and believing in "innocent until proven guilty" as a legal precept is not incompatible with a person also thinking he probably did it. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are a few bogus claims among the 40, made by either professional attention-seekers or hucksters smelling a possible payday. Sorting out the difference is normally something that would fall to investigators, but since almost all of these cases are outside the statute of limitations, it's more likely to fall to the jury in a civil case if one arises.
This. Some of the accusations are almost certainly false and coming from various bottom feeders looking for fame or cash. But some are probably legitimate, too. We'll see what happens should it ever come to trial.
"Bill's gonna show you a thing or two!" indeed Regardless, stick around, you just might learn something!
What I don't understand is why all these women waited so long to say anything. How long is the statute of limitations? And not that this excuses anything, but wasn't pretty much everyone in Hollywood doing drugs in the 70s? But bottom line, I was not there so I don't know. It does make The Cosby Show a little odd to watch now. But i was more of a fan of A Different World anyway...
One said she visited a lawyer in 1989 and was laughed out of his office. That's not hard to imagine, given how beloved a figure Bill Cosby was. And anyone who came forward had to know she'd be raked over the coals.
It looks like all but one of the allegations fall outside the statute of limitations and are not prosecutable, but the LAPD says they will investigate the others because sometimes an investigation of something that's outside the statute of limitations ends up leading to more recent things. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...ithin-statute-of-limitations-met-with-police/
What Tafkats said. As I mentioned in the other thread, rapists are about power, and Bill Cosby pre-babymamma drama was practically seen as a saint. He was gonna be protected and he knew that. There was also some allegations that came up about ten to 12 years ago, which got scuttled as well and the incident Tafkats brought up. So this certainly didn't come out of nowhere overnight.
And you put the pills in the Jell-O pudding, and wash it down with Diet Coke, and snap the photos with the Kodak film, and then aw-aw-aww. http://time.com/3947264/bill-cosby-quaaludes-sex/
Damn now it makes sense! : the snack you can say"yes" to so apparently The Cos fed them pudding pops, to they must have said "yes" when asked if they wanted to have sex. The Cos is smarter than you might think!
Wait a minute....the revelations might "embarrass" him? Well hell now we wouldn't want that now would we?
